You're either buying the expensive exclusive or the expensive Full Armor Unicorn to get a green frame. Or paint.

I agree that it's not likely to get a huge audience. I should have mentioned, I guess, that Bandai is involved in it somehow and they (bandai) said they were wanting it to be an english equivalent to Dengeki Hobby. The more interesting thing is that Bandai has been starting to push to try to expand gunpla in the US again.

I have a VF-25 and it it's pretty intricate and can do all modes, but there are a couple swap out support pieces that you jam in there to keep everything stable. Looking at the instructions of that new VF-1 kit you linked, it looks like the only parts swapping is the handle on the gun and a clip to hold it in fighter mode. Otherwise, the only other thing that's not integrated is clips for putting it on an action base. No idea how much of a hassle it is to actually deal with the transformation, though the design is far simpler than the 25, so I wouldn't expect it to be nearly as finicky.

Bandai was showing this comparison of it to the RG Strike and what they said was HG strike, but is the one on the left actually the first grade? I thought both releases of the HG had the vertical torso thingamadoos molded in gray. Regardless, it looks like a decent amount of remolding was done.

I kept on wondering if bandai was going to try and push Gundam in America again, especially with it being available in Barnes and Noble now. Turns out that BN was the one that approached them and asked to sell gunpla. It just seems odd that the US is now their primary market for Godzilla/Monsterarts, Dragonball, and now they're even starting to do it with the Sentai Figuarts (but I doubt that one is sustainable); but they make such little effort with one of their largest product lines.

I wasn't talking about selling them to kids (and that's Bandai of America's gig anyways); I meant as an "adult collectors" line, like everything else they bring over. Maybe They also handle the American distribution of kotobukia kits and those are easier to find and have a better selection where I'm at. Or maybe I'm in a lovely location. Atleast they sell everything on Amazon, but that pretty much eliminates any impulse buys and if I'm going to mailorder, I'll save a few bucks and self-import.

Maybe try the Delta plus unless the transformation gimmick is too extreme. Jesta is my favorite design and that Delta comes close to looking as good.

To follow up on the gold talk, it's alot easier to make a clear yellow over silver look good than using gold paint directly. Also, the parts in the box themselves are almost certainly silver with a yellow clear over it anyways (I'm assuming it's normal vac-metal coating).

I think the only problem with the request that it have a hand for tossing 3 at once is that the Exia only has 2. (2 Beam Daggers, 2 normal length Beam Sabers, 1 solid dagger, 1 solid sword, 1 GN-Sword aka the switchblade; Gundam Seven Swords.)

It really kind of depends on your location. I know folks in California that always use EMS because it's really quick to there and fedex is kind of crap in their town. Midsouth where I'm at? Fedex in my town is really good, I've never had a fedex package from japan take more than 3 days (and one only took about 18 hours, that was nuts), and I've never had an international package where both were offered that didn't end up with the fedex option being cheaper.

I got it from HLJ. In this case, I already had some other things ordered that were coming out about the same time and tossed a few of the build fighters kits on preorders when they had their black friday sale. Due to shipping break points, it worked out to nearly half price. If you prorate the shipping, it was still decent savings, but if you're just going to buy 1 or 2 things, it can make it more expensive than just waiting on a localish retailer.

I got some h-hangars a couple weeks ago and decided to clean up a bit and try to free up some shelf room. HGs all in the hangar (sort of): MGs overlapping a little into the Macross section: Strike Noir not pictured because it didn't neatly fit anymore. Trying to free up shelf room failed, though now that I think of it, I probably spread out the Macross stuff a bit while the rest of the shelf was empty.

I think this is a fairer comparison: The one on the left is molded in solid grey and has to be glued together into a mono-pose, but the sprues include a few options for weapons, which are also going to be glued on unless you spend the time and money to magnetize things. The price is $85. On the right is an HG Gouf Custom, which if you're in this thread, you should probably know what to expect regarding color separation and posability. The price is $16. Edit: By their nature, the minis are generally going to have more surface detail than an HG, but you're still talking about double the cost of a standard MG that has a detailed inner frame with moving parts and probably has a tiny molded cockpit and pilot too. After 3 and a half months of waiting for a R4L order, that when I ordered it showed as all in-stock (this was ordered about a month before they had their server troubles and changed everything to just always show as in-stock), they finally responded to me and asked if I wanted to keep waiting an indeterminate period of time for an LED unit for the h-hangars to come in or if they could substitute one of a different color and go ahead and ship. I said go ahead, and it arrived today. Well, a box arrived, but it's not the items I ordered. I liked them back in the day, but think they should definitely be avoided now.

There you go. I knew it would atleast sometimes handle more than one in crossbone, but in videogames, they end up just canceling out the first beam that hits.

Like, if it's a resin kit of Guts and his bigass iron sword, go for it. Cool, or atleast I think so, bit of trivia: Armor Girl Project and their predecessor, MS Girl, are designed by Mika Akitaka. He's been a mechanical designer for Sunrise for quite a while, but if I understood correctly he also was a toy designer first. Back in the 80s, Takara hired him and wanted to sell a Bandai style robot for Transformers, which became Predaking (quite possibly the best 80s Transformer toy). This had 3 results: the toy sold very well, Bandai sued Takara, and Bandai hired him as their own designer.
