I can't help it, I'm going to get it at midnight, even though I promised myself I would never do that again. I'll probably fall asleep before I can play it though, it's way past my bedtime. Good thing it came out after finals, because I don't think it's going to be off for very long at a time for the next few weeks, despite its flaws.

Just had my first run in with invisible river lizards pretty far west of the capital. I'm trying to take captain what's her name on her mission to somewhere southwest of the capital, but no matter what route I try I run into something that kicks my (and more importantly, her) rear end.

I just survived my first trip through the forest, just a short half-mile or something between paths, since the curve of the path was littered with too powerful bandits. That was maybe the tensest half-mile hike I have done in a game.

Okay so uh...one of my pawns just got dragged into the lake kicking and screaming with massive amounts of blood flowing out into the water, and then she was gone. The water was only like two feet deep. This game takes the cake in the "everything will kill you" category.

This game makes the best use of physics in an RPG ever, no contest. I love how, for example, goblins run and jump at you like a human cannonball trying to knock you down. edit: goblin cannonball edit: oh god when you have your sword enchanted with fire and do that grapple move where you wiggle your sword around inside them it sets off firey explosions inside their body. Oh good, there are shortcuts through the world, like in Dark Souls. They're full of monsters though... Finally back in Gran Soren. That escort quest felt like more of an adventure than all of the Kingdoms of Amalur I played combined.

Am I right in thinking that there is no way to load your game from your last manual save (not from a checkpoint) other than dying? So say, if you lose your escort on an escort mission, the only way to do it again is to either commit suicide or restart the game?

I can't decide whether to go assassin or mystic knight, now that I have maxed out fighter. Also is there any reason not to just do the straight upgrade to my mage pawn? It seems odd to me, the rogue and warrior paths seem to have choices to make but mage just goes to better mage...or am I misunderstanding?

Yeah, my mage is almost entirely about buffs and healing, that's kind of the way I like it. Maybe I'll try some AoE spells though. edit: what about enemy status effect magic? I love blinding enemies. The saurians in particular scurry around so adorably when they're blinded.
