It's not really that oddball, it was basically the standard thing that you did if you had the money to get an S14 for a long time, and it's only changing now that they're getting really difficult to get your hands on.

NitroSpazzz posted:

When people were pulling out s14's to put in s50's 10+ years ago this was a very common swap because you could get a s14 for a grand or two. It's commonly referred to as a M2 and is a very fun combo to drive.

One of the older and likely nicest ones completed sold on Bring a Trailer recently for $125k - http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-bmw-2002tii-11/

I see. Neither the 2002 or the E30 M3 was ever sold in any meaningful numbers here in Sweden, so I've actually never seen this combo before. The more you know!

I see. Yeah I kinda like how it looks, especially from the back. The car for sale is sub $4k but is stripped from paint but supposed to have a working engine and tranny. There is something cool about American muscle cars, and there is a huge following in Sweden. Problem is, as always, parts availability. I know about the bumper laws and the environmental "choke" in the 70's on American cars (but not 100% on the timeline). The few parts places (surprisingly hard to google) are kinda expensive, but if I were to get an American car I'd love for it to be mechanically sound but kinda ratty looking.
Unfortunately swapping in engines is something that require re-registering the car which in turn requires paperwork from the manufacturer and/or using the custom build clause (which is a bit of a nightmare). Basically stock stuff or a load of hoops to jump through.
American V8's etc are cool, but it's kinda hard to keep up with the lingo of all the engines and mods.

If it's the car I think it is on Blocket, hooo boy do you have your work cut out. Muscle cars command a big premium, but if you can afford to go to at least 100kkr you'd get something that wasn't a total project.

Also, even though Bilprovningen has been getting more up to date on this stuff, no inspector will tell the difference between two small block engines if you don't start going crazy with tunnel ram intakes and poo poo. My -72 El Camino has had an 80s van engine for (from what I can tell) at least 15 years and no problems with inspection. People put crate engines of varying power levels and sizes in all kinds of old iron and never really run into any problems.

Is this really that backwards over there? Generally, in the US, you can fill out a form and pay a small fee ($20 in CA, probably similar or less elsewhere) to get a title from your state's Department of Motor Vehicles (or similar department) that indicates who owns the car. When you buy or sell a car, you're required to notify the DMV - again in California, there are variations in that duty elsewhere, but generally it's the basic model.

And I as a superior Swede, with the help of the swedish DoT and my phone, can look up owners until the cows come home, free of charge!

Here's a Swedish one that makes the rounds on the internet fairly regularly:

PumpLeffe = Leffe (dimunitive of mans name Lennart) that deals with pumps, or Leffe that does the pumping.

Tar sig an alla hål = Takes on all holes.

Vi trycker och sprutar också = We also pressurise and spray/spurt.

The phrasing and wording are very informal and clearly sexual, and I can't imagine in any way that this guy has lost out on business because of having this text on his van.
