Here too! (I'm a huge fan of The Flophouse)

I'm sure we're too little to belong in this thread, but Movie Mastery does a review every other week (every week during October), and our shtick is that we roll randomly to select our movie each time, from a list of basically any suggestion anyone wants to give us. So far people have at least been suggesting things that are more or less actual movies, which is good.

Infamous Sphere posted:

I Don't Even Own A Television, which is a podcast that's exclusively about bad books, and is amazing.

Actually a huge fan of this too, since we're basically doing almost the same thing. Our other show is reviewing bad books (they're just always roleplaying games).

You can send recommendations to either @systemmastery on twitter or systemmastery@gmail.com.

If you'd like to see if it's been suggested already, check out our Movie Mastery List. You can put recommendations in the comments section there, too. (If a movie is listed twice, it's because someone actually sent us the film, and we reward that by doubling their odds)

No, I'm afraid that's to do with Wordpress. A lot of podcasters that host on wordpress are getting basically the same issues. It's not fixable by us, it's some sort of issue between Wordpress and the most recent version of the Android OS. The best I can tell you is that it's a known issue on both sides so hopefully one of them fixes something soon, it's been driving us nuts.

They are simply advertising for a new show by pushing it out to their subscriber pool, not reviewing reviews of Real Housewives. I'm still not sure why it bothered me, I just didn't download them, but there was still something skeevy about using a listener base as an advertising pool by calling them "bonus" episodes. No idea.

My friends and I watched it on a lark the other day during a bad movie watching session and I am just befuddled by its existence and need to hear someone talk about it/make fun of it.

I checked the stand-bys (WHM, Flophouse, HDTGM) and none of them seem to have tackled it, I was wondering if anyone knew of any smaller podcasts or critic shows that have addressed it. I figure it probably should have come up earlier this last year during the whole Rachel Dolezal stuff.

Movie Mastery (it's an offshoot of our regular show System Mastery where we review terrible old roleplaying games). The basic premise is that we only review movies recommended by listeners, we watch a random one each time picked the day of, and we watch the trailer first and try to predict what's in the film to come. We've done Master of Disguise, The Star Wars Holiday Special, Big Money Rustlas, and just a bunch of terrible stuff recommended by our mean listeners.

We're at System Mastery, just click through to the movie episodes or the download link page. Actually we just did Santa with Muscles so it's the top thing on the scrollbar anyway.

That was a great podcast but holy poo poo that movie sounded terrible. I'm often digging up bizarre and terrible movies for the general hilarity of it (I do a lot of stock and trade in bad queer movies mostly, owing to having a review show that focusses on LGBT stuff) and I've never heard of Soul Man. I cracked up when it got to the bit where Dad gives his slimy pastel jumper rich boy son "the gift of manhood." I could just see the Grindr images in my minds' eye. Excellent.

So we did this a really long time ago, so it's not really a movie mastery episode or anything, but a while back we reviewed a queer movie (sort of) called 1313: Frankenqueen. Of all the films we've watched, it was not a film. We were hoping it would be a slasher film but with an eye for dudes instead of ladies, but instead, it's basically just a bunch of shirtless guys in hot tubs, ostensibly straight, never hooking up or doing anything. It's pretty dire. But hey, here's the review, or the download link in case anyone is a glutton for hard-mode punishment.

Infamous Sphere's right; I watched 1313: UFO Invasion, and I enjoy describing it as "the least movie I've ever seen." After 40 minutes, I was begging for a big floppy dick to come out just so I was actually watching something. Was Frankenqueen also filmed in the same porn mansion as A Talking Cat!?! (Same director, by the way), and did it also feature, like, a single cougar in the movie to shake things up?

Yep, a lady who was apparently also in Deadzone. The plot synopsis is "This lady wants to use the brains of five guys to create the ultimate boyfriend. She fills a mansion with straight shirtless morons that only want to sit in hot tubs. One of them is a secret agent or something so he occasionally searches the house for the lady's laser (his search is basically limited to two phone calls and checking the drawers in his own room). At night, one guy gets up and slowly wanders to an upstairs room, where the lady scans him with a booklight. This happens twice, but it's the same guy. Also, this slow wandering scene takes 11 minutes both times, is pitched as nighttime via a drat near robin's egg blue lens filter, and features so many repeated shots that by the middle of the second time through we were taking shots when we saw the painting of the Hollywood sign or "Car Parts room." She also watches that same guy shower twice, without soap and washing only his abs, and takes notes. Then she kills the guys offscreen, and makes a new sexy shirtless guy with a deep robot voice. In an internal monologue, the new guy vows to kill the lady, and then the movie ends."

I still like the show but it's a bummer when they have to stick to their schtick for the live audience.

That's been my complaint with that show for months. June can't just talk anymore. And not once has Jason yelling at her to say something stupid worked. Honestly she seems pretty checked out. If June's on an episode now, it's going to A) be a lot about how great everyone looked, and B) jump right to the ending of the movie since that's the only part she remembers.

Worst offender is definitely Eric, his only move seems to be the "Wait, did you say something entirely different? Because I have a bit on the pee pee tape I've only done three times!" Also for four fat podcasters they sure seem to have decided which side of the nerd/jock debate they belong on. Part of that is also that the RSS feeds have caps (150 objects seems to be the standard), and keeping the old episodes around can get expensive because of hosting.
