ABout the exp potions in the cash-shop, do they increase all exp you receive (specifically quest reward exp), or just from killing monsters? But yes the game is fun. The levelling experience is about par of The Burning Crusade (hubs with quests leading to other hubs with quests) but the world and combat and other misc stuff make up for it.

So I've been told that at 58 ~*~SoMeThInG~*~ happens that makes the final two levels go by much quicker than the infamous 52-57 sinkhole. I'm coming up pretty close on 58 so what exactly is it/where should I go to make this happen?

Yep. At endgame you've got a decent mix of full armour and sexplate, unless you're a Castanic woman in which case enjoy your frostbite. Edit: Or you're a male Castanic/Aman in heavy armour, in which case you'll be showing everyone your HOT ABS. Here is a link to a gallery of most of the sets in-game. There are some stunning textures in there. Baraka in particular get some amazing armour that makes them look like mobile cathedrels. Pierson fucked around with this message at 02:19 on Feb 13, 2013 |

Also, in later zones, enemies will have 'gently caress you' dodging movements designed to make them move out of the giant skill you just queued up, their bigger attacks will seriously hurt you and their cues become harder to see and quicker. It's still basically mobs like any other MMO has but they do get trickier to kill as you go through the game.Thievery posted:Are the rewards for BAM quests worth it? Coming into the game, I was unsure on how I would feel about combat here. Something about it just feels right, although I must admit now that I am playing a melee class, upon moving around the side of a baddie, I typically miss the first swing because of where I am facing or the camera. Shame about the newbie zones, but rest assured some of the later places you'll go are stunning. Also has one of the best deserts of any MMO ever. Velveteen posted:

ninmeister posted:So am I going to be disappointed in this game? I'm just trying to find a free to play MMO that doesn't suck to badly. I tried SWTOR but couldn't get into it. Something that could be positive or negative is the fairly standard way you progress. Lots of kill-quests, and the storylines while pretty good and with cutscenes are generic fantasy. Imagine WoW during The Burning Crusade; a quest hub will give a bunch of quests, leading to other hubs with more quests, repeat until a new zone becomes available. Lots of go-here-and-kill-this-for-money. The main points against it are final levels turning into a grind and the fairly lethargic endgame when you get past it. The community outside of goons has a few bright spots but generally ranges from insufferable banality to extremely toxic and creepy for two main reasons that have already been talked to death. Honestly? Take a break and play something else for a bit. Levelling-wise TERA isn't exactly the most paradigm-smashing MMO and later levels can get pretty brutal in terms of the exp you need and the mobs you're expected to kill. It's F2P now so there's no reason not to just drop it for a bit and come back later when you feel like slashing some dudes up. That said getting to 60 with at least one character is totally worth it because the gear you get is fantastic-looking and the dungeons are great.

Dungeons are one of my favourite things about the game, but like everything with TERA they seem to have put their worst foot forward. The first one is a bunch of brown caves with some cultists in and you have to wonder what they were thinking. Then you hit Sinistral Manor and it's a hundred times cooler and poo poo starts ramping up. Like most games they're basically rooms connected by corridors with mobs in them, but the presentation and atmosphere rule and they give you some massive bosses to slaughter. At 50+ you're fighting through giant cathedrels in the sky and a weird twilight garden with a final boss designed to push your poo poo all the way into the ground. And of course the loot looks fantastic. Sinistrel Manor in particular has a fantastic leather set that is a swag-as-gently caress red-and-gold ensemble you should absolutely run the dungeon over and over for. Special shoutout to Killian's Underground Clown-Crew Hangout. gently caress you Killian. edit; also if you make it to level 58 you get to finish levelling in Veritas District which is just gorgeous, even compared to most other TERA zones. VVV Yeah exactly. You spend what, seven or so levels fighting Argons in various shades of blue and brown, with a depressing-as-hell main storyline too about corruption and death. Then you go to Veritas for your last sprint to 60 and it's just this incredibly verdant and vivid zone, and you're escorting an Elven princess around activating old shrines and other classic fantasy stuff, and in the distance there's giant god-sized weapons piercing the ground. It reminded me of the switch from the standard sand/snow zones to the crazy neon midnight rainbow of the Elin capital city. Pierson fucked around with this message at 15:06 on Mar 28, 2013 |

It's probably worth doing around level 50 or so if you get that far, for your weaponry at least, due to the exp requirements at that stage. You can get something to +5 or +6 fairly reliably without shelling out too much.

I just applied to NFA because every time some news comes up I think "hey I liked this game" and I reinstall because Lancer-ing ruled and I want to try the new dungeons. I just checked the brokerage too and I discovered I have a Blue Angel Halo in my inventory, sellable, that apparently goes for 100,000g. Is this one of those things that people just put up for insane cash or does this thing actually sell for that much? I could basically outfit my Lancer for that money it seems. VVV That's good advice, thanks man. edit; Ahahahaha I don't have enough money to list it because apparently this game charges listing fees and not selling fees, and I'd need over 4000 to sell it. loving incredible. Also drat I should have sold my old blue angel halo last time I was logged on and they were worth hundreds of thousands of gold, now they're only worth about 90.

Is the 2x exp event going on right now for subscribers only or for everyone? If it's the latter can you subscribe for a month and get even faster exp? Yeah I get zero feedback about how well I'm doing as a tank. Even something like small coloured icons over healthbars would be nice. Everything else about the combat system is great but trying to tank can be a guessing game. Not that tanking is really needed at the minute, it's kind of ridiculous. My gunner just hit 20 and got her first relic weapon. I immediately enchanted it to +9 and now she's killing the BAMs so fast I may just grind them to level. Is there some kind of weird weapon level vs enemy level thing going on? I hosed up enchanting and accidentally deleted my 32 Avatar weapon and I'm stuck using my 26 one until 38. I was hitting for 2-3k in Sinestral Manor and now I'm only hitting for 200-400 in Ascent of Saravasti. How hosed am I?

Pepper the entire thing with Replenishment whenever it's up and hope for Arcane Barrage procs. Most mobs are usually 1/2 or 2/3rds to dead after the first Arcane Barrage. That skill is insane. Bastion of Lok and Sinestral Manor are easy as poo poo and you can pull whole rooms. I'm at Ascent of Saravasti now and it's a little harder. If I could get a second or third gunner in it would trivialise everything but I'm not sure if multiple people can enter the same instance via the teleporter, or whether you're forced to group with the LFG tool.

Mr. Neutron posted:I played this game back when it launched for a (free) month, got to 60, ran some dungeons but that was it. I'm giving it another try now, starting fresh. What are the main things I should know? I remember back then the US version was superior, even to the point of having content patches earlier but that seems to have been remedied? Why else should I shun EU? Biggest change that made me go "thank holy god" when I started playing again was that enchanting/upgrading now involves feeding a generic material called 'feedstock' to your weapon/armour, instead of having to grind out or buy same-level equipment. Other notable things: Daily login rewards. Weekly quest targets that shower you in alkahest, feedstock and other gear-improving material Avatar weapons! Every half-dozen levels or so enemies will drop pieces of these things and when you have 10-14 they assemble into a new weapon for you to level with. A godsend. Island of Dawn has been streamlined. You're barely there for an hour now. Tons more exp from levelling dungeons, which if you're a gunner you'll solo. Right now while levelling the game will shower you with charms and exp boosts at certain milestones. Finally if you want to just skip all that poo poo you can buy a level 60 scrolls for every class but Reaper and Gunner in the cash shop. Also a new event just started that has you kill BAMs and rewards you with a stamina-replenishing mount, which sounds super-useful. Pierson fucked around with this message at 16:53 on May 12, 2015 |
