Oh my dear gently caress. I logged out last night and the last thing in this thread was Hah Hah Rue's Black You're All Racist Nerds. Which always warms my heart. I awake this morning, take care of poo poo, log in, and HOLY poo poo 83 NEW MESSAGES?! Did Eddie show his dick to some one? Did the Tropers get defcon five creepy with Jesu again? Did Washout Tom update his never ending masterpiece? gently caress NO, PONY SEIZURES FOR EVERYONE. I was actually legitimately reading along rolling my eyes at the bullshit wondering if these were actual comics or something, and then I looked at my scroll bar and realized I wasn't even a third of the way done with the loving page. Cue a lot of skimming and a lot of scrolling and staring in abject terror at this massive imaginary bullshit. Say what you will about Tom, and oh BOY can you say a lot-at least he's WRITTEN SOMETHING. It's awful and reads like a technical how to anime bullshit, but he's written something. Even if that chapter is all he has ever written and is all he will ever write, he has produced more content, put more back into the world, than that bloated carcass of a puss filled pulp fiction page ever will. Thank you TV Tropes. Thank you for making Eye Em Teh Cutest look better by comparison. You weirdos.

At least that's all poo poo that exists. You can go out and watch that bullshit or read it! You can find the many porn comics where Shinji fucks and is hosed by everyone because they actually exist and thus, at SOME POINT, they are just reporting what happened in them. Daring Do does not exist. What they did was worse than even fanfiction- it was compiling the tropes of a fan fiction that DOESN'T EXIST.

So his two extremes are Jane Austin and the anime about universe sized robots throwing galaxies at each other. I wonder what he must think of work that happens to fall IN-BETWEEN those two subtleties. Like would he look at Apocalypse Now and write it off as trite garbage purely because it could have happened to some one?

(Site is , article is ) As much as we mock the beliefs tropers have about Japan and the "age of consent is thirteen there" myth, the industry goes out of it's way to appeal to the lolicon crowd, and that's why anime is in such a disastrous state right now. Nearly everything is fetishy because that what rings money out of this niche audience of reclusive people that the rest of Japan holds in contempt. If you ever hear American geeks complain about The Big Bang Theory or something, you should tell them how goddamn good they have it compared to Japanese geeks, who have it a whole lot worse as far as public perception goes, and for the most part the industry thinks it can survive by appealing directly to them with all the moe loli trash they could ever want. I will say, one case where this was reversed? As in a wife put in the place of the dad? Kinda really sucked. Silent Hill, the first movie changed from a man to a woman because the director didn't believe a dad could love his child enough to go through hell. He then proceeded to make her utterly useless, and the only thing she ever did was bring Satan into a church so she wouldn't have to do anything on her own. Because why would your main character need agency!

Puppy Time posted:In all fairness, that's about the role the character had in the original, albeit with a lot more monster fights inbetween. More monster fights? Rose fought jack poo poo monsters. She either cried and cowered, or managed to run away. Or they just left. Harry fought a town filled with demons, and then got into a fist fight with an evil super god all to save his daughter, who he knew didn't technically exist anymore! Rose let everyone else do everything, and then MADE A DEAL with that evil super god so it could kill more people. Travis343 posted:im pretty sure even a regular MLP character is supposed to be a child I can speak on this because I have seen far too much of the first season- The main characters of MLP are supposed to be young adults, each holding down their own jobs and living on their own- 19 to 24 kind of age. However that is subject to change and the emotional maturity of the writing is skewed much younger for very obvious reasons. So basically stop wanting to gently caress ponies. Stop it right now.
