So listening to KARTAS and listening to the One Shot episodes of Feng Shui and Feng Shui 2 really sold me on this game so I ended up backing at the 140 level cause I wanted the physical book the gm screen and those archetype sheets. But after the last few pages of discussion about customization has me thinking about it cause that's a fair amount of money for me to drop. Though just thinking about the One Shot game they took the sorcerer and turned it into am magical girl so I don't really think they'll be a problem with talioring the characters to how you would like. Though I was a little surprised they didn't copy the way Apocalypse World does their playbooks but that might be cause I'm just really hyped for Spirit of 77. But I still have to finish reading the advanced rules but I've already got an idea for a trilogy of sessions set in 1986 San Francisco, 1994 New York and possibly 2015 Hong Kong. Nothing really touching on the games meta plot just yet but a series of cool action movies abs when I start thinking about that all my misgivings seem to float away. Also chimp pun names are awesome.

Evil Mastermind posted:In FS1 the "Scrappy Kid" archetype could take the Sorcery skill instead of Kung Fu, and the current One Shots is using characters from when they first played it. So it kinda got grandfathered in. Okay I'm not really familiar with FS1 and only skimmed the archetype section last night before falling asleep and was re-listening today today to try and figure out which one she was using. But having a chance to look at the Scrappy Kid in the draft rules I don't think they do that anymore and I was under the assumption that One Shot is using the draft rules to show everyone FS2 and just listening to some of the things she's used like observe chi I think that's the archetype being used for Action Angel La La, I'm sorely tempted to ask which archetype she is using for that in their comments section to find out since I think highlighting that as an option is a way to get at least one person I know to give it a shot. But you're right the game isn't about large scale customization, and any customization you want is pretty easily as far as just swapping out a skill name, like if you wanted to be the Everyman Noodle shop owner just change the type of info your skills are in like from classic rock to types of noodles or what have you. A different gun to make you less Dirty Harry and more like Martin Riggs. Even if swapping shticks around is game destroying...well that's totally an action movie thing. (Agreed Tommy Euphrates is the best, love the one liners.)

So with 600 dollars to go until Blowing up the Movies V, they added a few more Stretch goals with 4 days left. quote:LOCKED – $146,000 – Secrets of the Chi War II: Harlem Beatdown, NYC 1973 Holy crap do I really hope they can at least get to the next Stretch Goal but I don't know if they can do a thousand dollars a day to make it. But with how wildly successful this Kickstarter has been maybe they can pull it off.

Oh my god some of those Stretch Goals, I kind of hope anything that doesn't make it for the kickstarter gets released in a splat book or something cause those pop-up junctures are too cool to loose

This, cause Jesus after Rumble in the Bronx I didn't really care about what movies got written up about and would have loved to have seen more of those pop-up junctures lower down on the list the pop up juncture for Feng Shui one and the Legacy of the architects of the new flesh should have been much earlier in the stretch goals. Hell I've been thinking of adding 25 bucks onto my level (which I'm a schmuck that did a pretty high tier that I probably shouldn't have) just to get those PDFs. Though at the rate it's been going I want to say we might get to Blowing Up Seoul and maybe the Warring States Pop Up Juncture if we're lucky KomradeX fucked around with this message at 23:06 on Oct 16, 2014 |

I'm so excited to hear this project is going forward, especially since one kickstarter I backed around the same time has cancelled, another is running late and for some reason I couldn't get kickstarter to let me join The Dracula Dossier or the new Paranoia campaigns. So I've very excited to see how quickly this has been coming along part of me has been hoping that maybe we'll start seeing some of the physical rewards before August. Though I have been wondering, have the PDF packs for Feng Shui 1 been given out to those that backed at those levels/added it on?

Okay thanks. I deleted all of the emails in my gmail recently so that email got deleted crap. I guess I'll send them an email tomorrow to see about that getting fixed.

How many of the archetype sheets have errors and how bad are they. I got my kickstarter stuff the other day and am really satisfied with the look and quality of everything. The only complaint I could muster is I kind of wish the front of the gm screen showed some action going on instead of just the name of the game and some of the characters. I backed at the Sifu level so I got like all of the extras and later on bought the PDF packs of Feng Shui. I went all in for this game.

Slightly Lions posted:Just got my package! Everything seems really good so far, the book's in fine condition. But flipping through my emails, I don't think I ever got my Crazy Pack PDFs or Blowing Up The Movies. Who/what would I contact to ask about that? Yeah I had missed out on my Crazy Packs as well a few months back. I'd send them a message via kickstarter and they'll sort it out with you. Blowing Up the Movies was a great read I read the whole thing the day I got it.

dwarf74 posted:Here's some of my comments... Jesus some of these are bad and make them pretty much unplayable right out of the box without heavy modification. Which defeats the purpose of just picking them up and playing. Hell waiting for these was half the reason I haven't run a game if it yet. Have people been complaining on the Kickstarter about them sending out the sheets in such terrible order?

No I understands exactly how you feel I backed at the Sifu level just to get these sheets and all the the other bells and whistles to run this game and now in kind of pisses me off that these sheets are useless for quick pick up and play. I had thought that people were exaggerating but I hate to see you guys weren't. I hope Atlas Games will do the right thing.

Well that's disappointing to hear. Guess I'll have to go print to and laminated some sheets from Staples, man I'm totally not regretting giving these people 160 bucks to be told to get hosed.

Galaga Galaxian posted:Yeah, if this had been some stretch goal freebie I would be disappointed, but would just shrug and move on. However people specifically paid extra for these things and they turned out defective. That is pretty lovely. I ended up paying a lot of money for this game, and backed at the level I did solely to get these cool sheets cause of the ease of play to just give them out and start playing. Now if I want that exact same thing I have to go to Staples and get them printed out in color and laminated at great expense that kind of pisses me off. Now it's not enough to sour me on the game. But I will probably not back another Atlas game at a high level again. That being said I'm looking to get some of my friends together sometime next week to show the game off. The idea I've got is San Francisco 1986 and a bunch of references to Big Trouble in Little China. Lo Pan probably won't actually be involved with the plot but I figure I'd throw in a bunch of easter eggs. I'm sort of waiting to see what the cast looks like before setting anything in stone. My prep work during the week will be mostly creating a list of names for people so I can drop them in like I know what I'm doing and maybe coming up with a few ideas for action set pieces. A
