Looking forward to Pat saying hxh is the greatest shonen of all time in a month. I love that his major complaint is that the show doesn't explain how powers work and the very next arc is an exhaustive explanation of how nen works for the next 100 episodes

Basically some people have the ability to manipulate their life energy to produce a variety of effects. Many people who have these powers don't know any details about them and/or haven't been trained in them correctly because the illuminati suppresses that information and filters those people out of society and into their ranks through the hunter exam.

Woolie has never seen it beyond part of the first OVA from the 90s and iirc never even got to the tournament at the end of the hunter exam. It SEEMS like a very conventional story for a while and the swerves are subtle format stuff at first, like the first tournament ending prematurely for reasons and the second one existing only as a backdrop for the characters' personal goals and getting completely dismissed once they're satisfied.

I don't like Matt's vibe of insane frenetic forced energy and constant jump cuts and editing for a relentless pace you get on his channel compared with sounding like hes about to take a nap under the desk in the main channel vids. He's clearly, obviously more satisfied doing one over the other and is bad at pretending with people he doesn't like. I hope he cheers up and feels more satisfied and in control of things after this all blows over.
