2nd edition is wacky, doing Berzerker 7 -> Dual to druid in BG2 SoA. When I did the swap, I had 2 pips in two handed weapons, and 4 pips in Quarterstaff. I did not expect to be able to add a 5th pip to quarterstaff when the druid finally got another proficiency at 11 or so, but I sure did and now I have the staff of Rynn+4 from the wondermart and my druid attacks 5/2 per round, with like 21-26 dmg per hit.

Really surprised it lets you do a 5th pip during a "druid level" but hey who cares them monsters have asses that need to be beat to death with a staff.

I think that can only happen when your fighter levels have been reactivated.

But what I really need to know is if I have a berserker/druid with berserker reactivated, can I go berserk and then shapeshift into a berserk bear? Or does the shapeshifting knock the berserk out of me (or prevent shapeshifting)?

This is not true for IWD

9th level: Becomes immune to poison. May shapeshift into a polar bear once per day.
11th level: May shapeshift into a fire elemental once per day.
13th level: May shapeshift into an earth elemental once per day.
15th level: Gains the Timeless Body ability, becoming immune to fatigue. May shapeshift into a water elemental once per day.

I'm surprised Beamdog didn't add that in BGEE. Wolf, black bear and brown bear all (and only) at level 7 in BG is weak.

Yeah it works. The big issues with that idea are a) rolling the necessary stats for a Berserker/Druid is a horrendous task, and b) the vanilla Druid's shapeshifting forms aren't very good.

Sweet thanks.

Samuel Clemens posted:

What does work very well (for a gimmick build anyway) is an Avenger dualed to Fighter. The Avenger's forms are much stronger than the normal ones, and you get some useful spells to boot. You'll need to pick up the Strength tome in BG1 though, since 17 Strength is required to dual into Fighter.

Druids can roll a 17 or 18 str. They just don't get a d100 for exceptional strength when they have str 18. There are bonuses at 17 & 18.

Sorcerers don't have a primary attribute and don't get bonus spells from Charisma. So, pump up your other abilities as much as you want. I'd go half elf with max physical stats and at least a 9 int for scrolls. I'd probably also go RDD and be more melee capable since the con bonuses would get you into regen levels. But if you just want to hang back and rain fire and ice, stay with regular sorcerer.

Are there any timelines out there that detail, specifically, when all the Forgotten Realms PC games take place in relation to each other? I'd like to look at it while I'm working today instead of working. I've got queries running in the background, it's Friday, no one is here, and I need poo poo to do.

Year (DR= Dale Reckoning)
1281 DR: Icewind Dale and expansions
1310–1311: Icewind Dale 2
1340: Pool of Radiance
1358: Curse of the Azure Bonds (gold box game)
1358: Eye of the Beholder 1, 2 & 3
1368(?): Baldur's Gate & Expansions (should include SoD)
1369: Baldur's Gate 2 & expansions
1372: Neverwinter Nights
1374: Neverwinter Nights 2 (includes Storm of Zehir)
1479: Neverwinter
1493: Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms

Unknown: Neverwinter Nights (AOL game .ran on MSDOS)
Unknown: Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor (gently caress this game)
Unknown: Secret of the Silver Blades (1340-1360 probably)
Unknown: Pools of Darkness (1340-1360 probably)

So basically, Icewind Dale took place before the time of troubles (Bane, Bhaal, & Myrkul were still alive). Everything else before Neverwinter Nights is AD&D era Forgotten Realms. Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2 are during the 3rd edition era. Neverwinter is the 4th edition (Spellplague & all that garbage) era. Idle Champions is pretty much 5e era but is 100% its own thing and not to be taken seriously.

Just edit your hitpoints with EE Keeper (or the older one if you're not using it) and move on. poo poo happens and now you know.

I prefer wizard slayer-> thief with a longbow (and some shortbow levels from thief training). I usually dual class when they get to 5* in longbow.

Berkserker->druid is also pretty cool since druids level really fast and benefit greatly from armor and weapon options when berserker reactivates. If you're playing IWD, you can shapeshift into a berserk polar bear or elemental if you get silenced or something. Which is fun.

Interesting, not sure I’ve ever heard of anyone playing a Wiz Slayer. How does that handle as a dual class?

I believe it's the same as a fighter/thief for weapon proficiency. That's why I max out longbow before I dual class. I don't think you can get more than 2* in anything even after Wizard Slayer reactivates.

There is some pain until you get UAI. You can't use anything that a Wizard Slayer can't use, even when WS is deactivated. That's really only an issue with items that improve sneaking and I tend to have my ranger handle that. Otherwise, you sit back and peg anything casting a spell with multiple attacks per round. If it doesn't die in 3 hits or so, I usually switch targets anyway if there's another caster as the first target has accumulated at least 75% spell fail chance and isn't really a casting threat anymore.

But after you get UAI, you can use paladin weapons (and about anything else) if you want to be dual wielding a holy avenger with Aihonen's blade in IWD or slashing phase spiders in the face with Carsomyr.
