The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far.

Some of clips are quite scary, some of the starting ones could have gone far worse.

Last I saw most people were recommending either the A119 or A129 for good value single cams. They're also listed in the recommendations from r/dashcam.

In general, with a dashcam you want to focus more on single frame quality rather than framerate, the idea being that it's easier to pull a clear image of a license plate with 2-4k at 30fps than 1080 at 60fps.

Also a good point about leaving audio recording on, for just that reason.

Not actual dashcams, but the schad thread is rich with driving content this weekend:

I've got either an A119 or an A129 and it's been working well for a few years. Check the right panel of https://www.reddit.com/r/Dashcam/ for some current recommendations based on cost, performance etc.

e: I also had a problem with corrupted files with previous cameras so I also got the endurance SD cards that are "optimized for dashcams" whatever that means.

Look for High Endurance. HE are designed to be written to constantly, such as recording a stream of video whenever your car is on. Regular consumer cards don't expect that level of read/write and will crap out on you every time. See also: running a NAS OS off a USB stick but not realizing that the constant log file writing would keep bricking them and bringing your server down :(
