This is good news. I read the OP and browse the STO wiki now and then, but still feel like I am probably missing some pretty fundamental things. Like, are the bits you get from the little scanner mini-game worth hanging onto? Is there anything I am likely to find at level 10ish that I absolutely should not sell?

Maybe it's a bit of a pipedream, then. I am pretty new to the game (level 20!) and likely won't have time to do farming on alts and poo poo. I was hoping to just kind of not spend any credits between now and when I hit max level, and then throw a bit of real money at it to make up the difference.

I wasn't really planning on min/maxing too much anyway, so I may just end up cruising around in a sub-par Dread for the hell of it. I pretty much just want the jem'hadar dreadnought because it looks cool.

vvv Yikes, gently caress that.

First thing is the Energy Cap Credit Increase. After that... probably the account bank, but for that I'd actually recommend subscribing for a month, which unlocks that and a bunch of other things permanently. After that, depends on what you're feeling you need. More characters? More boffs? More bank?

Also, if you have a KDF character, a Vandal destroyer so you can steal that sweet sweet plasmonic leech console.

Subscribing is an interesting idea. Do you know what stuff unlocks permanently? http://community.arcgames.com/en/news/star-trek-online/detail/3026713 isn't too specific about what will stay unlocked when the subscription lapses.

Yeah, pretty much. Frankly though the free/mirror cruisers are all kind of mediocre, and the assault/mirror assault are just the best of the mediocre picks. If you like playing with cruisers, you'll probably want to pick up a Gal-X Avenger or Regent at some point.

It's not so much that I really like cruisers as it is that I wouldn't mind having one on standby for a change of pace now and then. But the price ended up being more than I want to spend on a mediocre ship, so I'll probably see if I can farm up for something.

Do the dance competition all the way through once for 50 favours, trade those favours in for a basic jetpack. If you don't want to do that, drop 1000 ec every day for a new temporary jetpack. Once you've got a jetpack, talk to the events coordinator and do the jetpack obstacle course, it takes like five minutes and rewards 40 pearls a day. Once you've got 1000 pearls you've got a ship. It'll take 25 days or if you want to go full sperg get up every 20 hours exactly and get it earlier.

If you want both ships get two alts, have one claim the corvette and the other alt claim the cruiser. Once you've bought the ships, all your alts will be able to buy both the corvette and cruiser for a total of 40 pearls each, or one obstacle course run.

It's a grind, yes, but these ships aren't terrible and if you're space poor this is a really easy way to get good, end-game level ships cheaply.

Thanks for this. As someone starting from scratch, I was wondering if there was a reasonably efficient way to get both ships.

Just to clarify, when you say two alts do you just mean two characters, or do you need two characters other than your main?

vvv Perfect, thanks.

It's an Assault Cruiser/Star Cruiser/???(Depends on what you use the Ensign for) with a hanger bay and other bits. It'll do the job, same as those ships.

But the high-end non-Fleet Excelsior is 2000 Zen. They share the same console layout, 3/4/2, the Excelsior has -1000 HP as compared to Gal-X, but has all four Cruiser Commands(If you care) and the Level 3 Tactical bridge slot which means access to Attack Pattern Omega. Also Excelsior's turn of 8 vs Gal-X 6(Where most cruisers have 7). Essentially it's +500 Zen for the bay, the lance, and the cloak.

The bay can be considered a fairly hefty increase in damage provided what you launch lives.

Any idea if the saucer separation and antimatter spread consoles are worth it? Seems like a lot of gimmicky consoles, especially if I wanted to keep the cloak.

Get a TR-116 rifle, and get the fleet armor that boosts your crit sev from the starbase.

For one, you need to be upgrading the Mk on your gear. Rarity can be safely ignored, but holy poo poo, Mk X and XI beams are not going to cut it in endgame content anymore. You're also lacking a decent ship gear set, but if I remember right, you said you were still working on Iconian, so you might as well tough it out till you get that. Also, drop the Breen consoles, get some Embassy plasma threat nullifiers. You do these things, and that will be enough to skyrocket your effectiveness for as minimal a gameplay investment possible. After that, if you still give a poo poo, you can start dipping into the crazier P2W options and possible even Get Gud(tm).

Also the gateway doesn't accurately show Boff skills, so you'll need to discuss that in game.

So, ignore rarity in favor of higher Mk, but I assume they still all need to be the same energy type? Also, are dual heavy cannons still objectively superior to dual cannons? Would you use Mk XI heavies over Mk XII regular cannons?

Are any of the sets you acquire from the episodes worth using, or just from reputation? I've maxed out Borg and Romulan rep, but most of the others are tier2-3ish.
