Follow the mission chain you have there. Part of the reason the game probably feels weird is because you're fenced off from the "real world" until you finish the introductory New Romulus chain and ally with the Feds or Roms.

Got another Gal-X for us. On the one hand, he managed to use only phasers for his energy weapons. On the other hand, he spent a lot of time facing his rear end to Mirror ships so he could fart torpedoes at them.

750 Zen for a marriage license seems kind of expensive, but the huge bonuses when you're grouped with your spouse might be worth it I guess. The fact you can only get gay married with it seems restrictive but it makes sense when you think about what's going on in the news.
