You'd be getting it for the space barbie options. The armor itself isn't anything special. It does, however, look pretty kickass, and an impromptu 75% discount is nothing to laugh at.

The issue is apaprently due to some changes in the effects code that went in with this season. Most people only notice it with Undine because everywhere you fight Undine involves a metric shitload of particle effects.

It's still a 3 minute clicky power but since it's actually buffable by phaser consoles and damage skills and basically murders everything in a given area and makes it un-traversable for about 30 seconds it's not a bad thing to have handy at all.

I dunno, pubbie disbelief as we've one-shotted waves of Undine in the battlezone has made it pretty worth it. The ship is good enough that you don't really need to min-max your consoles that much to still be king-poo poo of everything.

Just playing the game at all will get you to 50 in a couple of days. Check out some of the revamped story missions, fly around doffing, run fleet alerts and sector defenses, all that poo poo.
