What is the best weapon type for Elemental Athena? I can't seem to find a shock shotgun to save my life, so I assume I should try for either shock lasers or shock SMGs?

I'm still on my first playthrough but I'm having great results with the Moxxi laser you get before retaking Helios. I don't know what other variations there are but I got the continuous beam variety that creates chain lightning that zaps nearby targets. It's great at building Maelstrom stacks and heals you but I think it could be irritating to use on a Xbox controller. :dong: I wouldn't know since I'm using a keyboard and mouse.

I also have a continuous beam fire laser which also works well in when I'm in an atmosphere which is also great at building stacks.

Anyone wondering where the optional ECHO logs for the space herps mission were, I went through the trouble of finding them without a guide as there was none I could find.

Boy were they irritating to look for. They only glowed green (instead of being marked white or cyan) and it didn't help that the level was dimly lit, the infection covering your view was predominately green, and the room with the brain bugs was flooded with green light. As you can see from the screenshots, the glow on the ECHO recorders (except the first one as I had already listened to it) aren't very noticeable. At least they were in somewhat plain sight and not hidden high or out of the way but it was still way to hard to find. My eyes hurt from staring at the screen for so long.

I believe that challenge is only obtainable during the story mission despite the fact that there are two other challenges you can get from fighting Deadlift any other time.

Really, the location specific challenges in this game are a lot more irritating and difficult to get compared to BL2. A lot of those challenges can only be obtained during the story mission and sometimes you have a short window of time to complete them. There were time where I had to quit the game and replay the level and backtrack to get another chance to complete the challenge. I'll even admit that I used cheat engine after a few regular tries because it became tedious restarting and rushing back through the level.

The Poopdeck challenge was very irritating given how far into the level I had to backtrack and figuring out how to kill him before the door did. Singularity grenades didn't seem to affect him so I had to just kill him quickly which was easier said than done. In the end, I used cheat engine to increase my gun damage 1000 fold or so because it got annoying after several long runs.

The most difficult challenge I've come across so far which I have given up trying to complete is the one where you escort Felicity and keep her from killing any scavs. Sounds simple except for the fact that she can OHKO the scavs, has a long quick lunge that can also strike enemies, and the scavs only show up when Felicity is well within striking range. Short of spamming very high damage grenades or rockets with a large damage radius, this challenge is next to impossible in normal play.

The only irritating challenge I remember from BL2 was the save the turrets challenge which only could be completed once during the story mission. However, it wasn't impossible to accomplish as long as you killed the surveyors quickly as they were the only enemies that seemed focused on destroying the turrets.

Boy this moved fast. Must as well throw this into the fire.

If he got the PC version, he is out $60-$100 that's not refundable. If you spent that much money on something, you expect it to be good.

Then again, some of those points are just nitpicking. First off, there is nothing forcing you to rush through the story missions. Sure the narrative may make it seem like time is of the essence but there is no consequence from taking your time exploring and doing side missions. It's not like you get locked into the story mission or there is a time limit you have to beat before Elpis blows up.

Cutscenes? It's probably no more than 10 minutes out of 6 to 8 hours of gameplay per playthrough. Tired of watching it again? Do something else for a few seconds or minutes. Get up and stretch. Get a drink. Browse the internet. Anything that'll keep you occupied or calm you down you lazy gently caress.

Legendary items are hardly mandatory at the moment. Sure most of my items have a rarity of blue or greater but it's not like I'm decked out in orange items and forced to use a specific overpowered skill build set because all the enemies are bullet sponges that can kill you in one shot.

VS mode? Do we really need one beyond the dueling system?

Matchmaking? At least it's not Gamespy.

Okay so some of those may not be great arguments. However if you're really that butt hurt about the game, return it for a refund or do a chargeback on your credit card if you're feeling audacious.

You mean the revolvers that, if im not mistaken got rolled into Pistols?

And the type of pistol is determined by their manufacturer. Jacobs, Maliwan, and Torgue make revolvers while Dahl, Hyperion, Vladof, Tediore, and Bandit/Scav make autoloaders.

No weapon type is more useless than the assault rifle with a minor exception for Torgue rifles and those with spinigun barrels and even those tend to only be okay.

I ran into an issue with Gibbed's editor, both the BL2 and BL:TPS versions, running on the Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9879. Saving any save files will create a corrupted file that neither the game nor the editor can read. Fortunately, the game will fall back to the backup save file. When I try to load the corrupted file in the editor, I get the following:

"Failed to load save: LZO decompression failure (InputOverrun)"

I ran the editor on a computer running Windows 7 and it didn't create a corrupt file so the issue is with Windows 10. I believe the editor worked fine before it updated to Build 9879 today.

I chose the left and right trees for fake Jack because it buffs the Digi-Jacks and guns. He survives pretty well, I think

You can also go down the center and right trees to buff yourself. With the center capstone skill, Leadership, kill skills will activate when a Digi-Jack dies. You have Synergy and Believe to boost your gun damage while Winning helps with survivability and mobility. Leadership will also trigger Jack's Cache so you can run with as little grenades as possible to make the most out of Just Compensation while still being able to use grenades somewhat frequently.

They really went all out on making her be the most posh motherfucker on Elpis. She's really the perfect character I was hoping for as someone who is a) a fan of sniping and b) completely unable to enjoy the plot or characters of this game (she doesn't either).

Unfortunately, there are some gaps in the dialog when a NPC makes a character specific response in which case they seem to have a generic Vault Hunter response. Examples include when you're first introducing yourself to Jack and Janey Springs, some of Spring's dialog during the Deadlift mission, or after beating Napykin's time. (Only just started the Drakensburg mission.) After the little touches they did with Jack's Body Double such as Jack getting distracted over how hot the body double looks or Napykin calling him an unrealistically handsome man, the generic responses for Aurelia feel jarring. I guess they couldn't get everyone back to record some new dialog?

And what's really funny is how, after you finish playing Anarchy Gaige and go back to another character, you will basically have to learn to reload all over again because your instinct/habit will be not to reload.

It's still probably a good idea not to make constantly reloading a habit particularly if you're using a Tediore gun. Otherwise you'll end up running out of ammo really quickly or accidentally commit suicide when you run up next to the gun or the gun bounces back at you as it explodes with a mostly full magazine. :torgue:

I have no idea how a single player is supposed to kill Eclipse at level. There's just too much incoming damage and too many sources of incoming damage. Without somebody else to draw off some of that fire the best I can do is knock down about half of his obscene amount of health after chipping through his obscene shield.

Me neither. I don't know how I would beat him solo with anything other than the Doppelganger and abusing the hell out of Absolute Advantage (bumped up to 11 points thanks to the CEO of CEO mod which gives me an 88% chance not to consume ammo) with the biggest, baddest, most powerful and inaccurate Jacobs shotgun I could find with as much crit bonuses as possible. I would be firing a literal wall of buckshot once I got AA going which makes relatively easy work on those missiles as long as you catch them early enough. Of course, the missiles move way too fast, do way too much damage for the amount that gets fired per volley, and will target you even when you're down. That makes trying to revive anyone tantamount to suicide and you have to time your second wind after the missile volley has stopped or you'll be instantly down again which is really frustrating. It really feels like someone was off by a decimal point or two when assigning the missile attributes. Either that or they forgot that they have to tone him down as a story boss.

It took me a few tries against Eclipse before I finally beat him. EOS wasn't as bad since he was large enough most of my shotgun pellets would hit despite having about 20% accuracy. Still even with Absolute Advantage, I occasionally found myself running out of ammo since I had to depend on Leadership a lot to get my kill skills going and sometimes forget to activate and cycle the Digi-Jacks. Still, gently caress them both.

I really, really want to like the FFYL mechanic, but it seems like all too often the instant you hit FFYL all the enemies acquire a sense of self-preservation and duck behind things you can't get to or have mysteriously run the gently caress away within the last second or so. It'd be an okay mechanic if the enemy AI would play ball with it a bit better.

I've always wondered if it's because the enemy AI no longer sees you as a target when you go into FFYL. I do agree it's very annoying especially when I'm going solo.

Then again, Eclipse's missiles will track you even when you're down which makes reviving someone a very risky move which will very likely kill you and will knock you back into FFYL if you get a second wind while a barrage of missiles tracking you down.

After playing it through at release, I'm replaying the Pre-sequel with a couple of friends from the beginning. I'm the Doppelganger while my friends are playing Nisha and Aurelia (hogging the contract Aurelia has between themselves, bastards, I'll show them).

Looking at the skill-trees for Jack, all the trees look fun. For those who have tried him out, how clunky (if at all) does the Free Enterprise tree feel? It's giving me anarchy-stack vibes that Gaige had in BL2, which I had a lot of fun with. I'm also rather curious about the "Inspire" skill in The Hero of this Story tree, how does it work?

Absolute Advantage with 11 points and the biggest, baddest, most badass and inaccurate Jacobs shotgun is almost game breaking as you continuously shoot a furious wall of lead. To get 11 points, you'll want a CEO of CEO mod that will give you additional points in Synergy which gives you bonus weapon and critical hit damage. With the Leadership skill, you can summon and quickly recall the Digi-Jacks to trigger AA and your other kill skills (which the Doppleganger has a lot of really good ones) so you can enter a fight in your prime.

This is what I run with.
http://thepresequel.com/Jack/50510110000000550505005151550510005001

For gear in addition to the big Jacobs shotgun and the CEO mod, you'll want a good nova shield to make the most of You Have My Shield and some Maliwan weapons in your element of choice and a Torgue weapon to take advantage of Sponsered By... Winning is optional if you want to take advantage of roid shields.

Wondering who I'll try next. I hear that the Jack Double plays sort of like Gaige (well, the Deathtrap part, not the Anarchy half)?

Well, Not Jack has a kill skill that gives him a chance (up to 88% with the right class mod) to not consume ammo. He also has a capstone skill that will trigger kill skills if a Digi-Jack is destroyed which includes if you recall them. Pair those with the biggest, most badass and inaccurate Jacobs shotgun with as many crit bonuses as you can get and you can rapidly fire a wall of bullets that can cover much of your screen. Just quickly summon and recall your Digi-Jacks and never stop killing. :getin:

So almost as broken as Gaige.

Try getting in his face. I found that if you're close enough to him, he won't use his missiles. Of course he can now stomp on you and still shoot you with his guns but if you can tank and heal the damage it beats taking a barrage if insta-kill missiles. Also if anyone in your party is far enough away, he'll use his missiles which can hit you even if you're close to him.

Is it me or is Jack's skill tree pretty loving nuts?

One of the capstones makes any of your pets dying (whether from actual damage or because you moved and they despawned) count as an enemy kill, which procs all his kill skills which heal him, restore shields, make him do more damage, be more accurate, reload and move faster, and probably even more poo poo.

Don't forget Absolute Advantage which gives him a chance NOT to consume ammo. With the right class mod, he can have up to an 88% chance though rockets have a much lower chance. Still, it works really well with high fire rate weapons especially Jacobs shotguns.
