Necc0 posted:Ah I'm mis-remembering then. I thought no one was able to hold it for more than two weeks and with a marginal lead at that. My memory of Perry is that the media and GOP establishment were hyping him up like crazy, and then we also got his announcement and a wave of somewhat polished TV ads, and as a result he surged into the lead but for the most part he personally remained out of the spotlight until the debates, where he immediately crashed and burned. Newt at least did well in early debates, soundly won the SC debate and actually won the state primary. But then Romney zeroed in on him and clowned him in the Florida debate, won that primary, and the dream was dead.

LOL. Trump's main advisor Michael Cohen is on Hannity and just slammed Lindsay Graham over his cell-phone burning stunt, noting that "it's not good for the environment."

He is. The media propagandists have been falsely trying to paint him as an extreme right winger. He's a center-right moderate. It's a reflection of how hosed up the left is in this country, that completely SANE, pro-labor, pro-working class ideas like "don't flood the saturated labor market with cheap foreign labor" and "don't eviscerate skilled labor with outsourcing and bad trade deals" and "actually address the chaos on the southern border in an effective way" and "build a wall in sections of the border where it is needed, according to border patrol and local political leadership" are used to paint him as far-right. But don't worry, these idiot losers with communications degrees can't stop us from Making America Great Again, my friend. The only actual unreasonable position he has taken is his assurance that he will make the Mexican government pay to fortify the border. But then again he has been on an incredible roll when it comes to convincing people to come around to his position and convincing people who swore they'd never even consider voting for him to actually supporting him over everyone else. This guy is a loving closer. If we live in a world where President Donald Trump is possible, maybe that crazy promise could come true too. You guys should worry less about how Hillary can hit Jeb! over Iraq and more about how Trump is going to do it first, and then turn it on Hillary too in the general election. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_Resolution Can't wait for Trump to call her an idiot war monger or an idiot rube and say "you voted for it!" (in the exact same manner in which he says "you're fired!") over and over while she's trying to respond. Chris Christie fucked around with this message at 00:38 on Aug 6, 2015 |

I just spent 3 years living in Lynchburg, and it DEFINITELY was not at ALL one of the more conservative places I've lived. It's a town of 100,000+. There's a hell of a lot more people there than just Liberty students/faculty/the Fallwells. My neighborhood was around 50% black and full of Obama signs during election season. I sent my kid to a church pre-school at a church different from the one we attended on Sundays, BOTH large Churches. The religious community there is no where NEAR as conservative or evangelical or obviously die-hard Republicans as down here in the REAL south (no one from outside Virginia or Maryland considers those dumps part of our southern culture in the 21st century). And of course liberty students attending on-campus are primarily KIDS. I think Sanders will be almost as welcome as Ted Cruz.

If the general election isn't Trump vs. Sanders, everyone who casts a primary vote for Bush/Clinton should be shipped in train cars to the nearest Planned Parenthood butcher shop.

Twas the day of debate, when all throughout Cleveland, Conservatives knew, it was time to get even. The establishment practiced and prepped with great care, In the fear that The Donald soon would be there. The masses were nestled all snug in their seats, Waiting to witness the establishments' defeat. And moderators at their desk, and candidates on stage, Bracing themselves for Ol' St. Trump's rage. When out on the street there arose such a clatter, They sprang from the Q to see what was the matter. Into the streets they flew like a flash, Knowing that soon there would be a great clash. The moon shined on the breast of the Cuyahoga River, And Walker and Bush began to quiver, At the sight their wondering eyes had just seen, A Sikorsky S-76, luxurious and pristine. With a gold plated logo, and plush leather interior, All knew in a moment Mr. Trump was superior. The candidates all bowed their heads in shame, As St. Trump descended, and called them by name! "Now Walker! now, Bush! now, Marco and Rand! You've let rapists and murderers into our land! On our southern border, I'll build a great wall! And I'll make the Mexicans pay for it all!" "Oh look, it's JEB!, the establishments' choice, They claim he'll provide a reasonable voice. But JEB! hired his brother's foreign policy hacks, Who started that stupid war in Iraq!" "And Scott Walker is here, with his terrible hair! Against me this loser hasn't a prayer! He bowed, he groveled, and begged both the Kochs, He's a shill, a stooge, the ultimate joke!" "And there's Mike Huckabee, a modern day theocrat, He raised taxes in Arkansas like some kind of Democrat! Look, it's Chris Christie, how could you miss him? We could solve world hunger if we let the Africans eat him!" "Marco Rubio, they say, is the great Latin hope, but if you ask me, he's kind of a dope. Ben Carson I'll admit, is one fine class act, Have I mentioned how much I love all the blacks?" "Like father, like son, Rand Paul is a quack! John Kasich is a Lehman Brother's Wall-Street hack! About Ted Cruz, I won't say a bad thing, He's the only one here smart enough to kiss the ring." "I see that loser Lindsey Graham isn't here, who the hell would vote for that closeted queer? I see that Rick Perry is absent too, That mouth-breathing retard couldn't add 2 and 2." Humbled, the candidates spoke not a word, With tears in their eyes, the sobs in their throats could be heard. Donald ran his hand through his magnificent comb-over, Knowing their campaigns were toast, it was over. He sprang to his chopper, to the crowd he waved good-bye, And away he flew into the night sky. But they heard him exclaim, as he soared higher and higher, "Let's make America Great Again!!! Obama you're fired!!!"

How do the gays recognize each-other on the down-low in public? There's got to be some way I can slyly determine whether or not my neighbors are pro-Trump and whether it's safe for me to buy Trump gear without them thinking I'm an insane racist.

Maybe I'll try bringing up the debate in small talk, see where they go with it. That seems to be how old people do it. I recall a time I was visiting my parents, and my Dad (businessman) and one of his neighbors (literal rocket-scientist) had a conversation by the mailbox that kept progressively, but slowly, devolving from polite, intellectual discourse into far right extremism that made even me blush as they felt each-other out. It started out innocently enough with things like "things aren't going so well" and eventually ended up at "Well, Obama IS a Muslim, after all"

There's a much better way to simplify voting you guys, all we have to do is move tax filing deadline from mid April to the beginning of November. Then, have people include their ballot with their tax filings. Simply record one vote for each of their candidate/amendment/etc. votes for every dollar of federal income tax liability they have. You're welcome.

He's not a socialist so he's not going to go for universal or single payer healthcare. I would imagine something closer to what I've talked about re: public OPTION and making sure private insurance is still also an option and available/affordable to employers, middle class incomes, etc.

What's weird is that NOBODY in the press seems interested in vetting the Boy in the Bubble. Did you see Rick Santorum trying to name an accomplishment by Marco Rubio in the Senate yesterday? It took him 3 MINUTES folks. And what he finally came up with is that Marco helped oppose some amendment to a bill at one point. Folks, let me tell you, they're already saving a spot for this guy on Mount Rushmore. No really though, this is the kind of crap we've come to expect from our so-called leaders in Washington D.C. Folks, I'm a governor. I actually have to DO things. I HAVE executive experience, and the boy in the bubble just doesn't.

Listen folks, I know Donald Trump. We get along great. And we're both running for the same office, so things are gonna get heated every now and then. But let me tell you what's REALLY heated right now - the entire world is burning because of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama's disastrous foreign policy. This is serious folks. Showtime is over. We are not electing an entertainer-in-chief. Showmanship is fun, but it is not the kind of leadership that will truly change America. This is not a game where you're puffing out your chest and who can be the biggest toughest guy in public. It's about who can run the country. And I believe the people of New Hampshire will make their decision based on what they think is best for the country. So you know, I'm not going to get into a tit-for-tat with Donald. I'm bigger and better than that, I'm not going to do it.
