I signed up for this game at PAX and they said they were gonna send me a beta key. Looks pretty fun, although I'm already sad that there's a ship I won't be able to get since I missed the alpha.

Just had two games in a row where i got killed by a teammate. One game my ally decided to use me as cover and shoot from behind me (read: right into my side). Then I got torped by a destroyer. Why are other people so bad.

My favorite thing is when the enemy carrier decides to torp my tier 5 carrier. The amount of AA it packs compared to every other ship that size is pretty crazy. I had some guy do that with two unescorted flights of torp bombers yesterday, between my single fighter and AA I think a grand total of one plane lived long enough to launch torps.

Man the difference between tier 5 and tier 6+ AA is insane. I went for a torp run on a BB with one cruiser protecting it. I think one of the twelve torp planes made it out alive.

Games can go from broken unfun pieces of poo poo to actually really fun in a year. It's a lot of time to make changes to a game. If you're really not having fun, you might want to just quit and come back when the game is finished rather than burn out on whats there right now.

Even though my fighters were relatively close, it took them more than lf the map to actually catch up and start shooting. I fear that if they increase the speed too much after the torpedoes are dropped, fighters may be unable to catch the torpedo bombers in a reasonable amount of time. I'd actually be fine if unladen bombers were faster than fighters. Gotta intercept them before they drop or they get away. Also could provide some interesting choices in "do i drop my load now and get away or get closer and drop my load but get caught by fighters".

Why are people so obsessed with the Admiral Graf Spee and the Prinz Eugen? Like, I can understand the Japanese ships and the Bismark, but I had never even heard of the other two until I started playing this game and they seem to pop up everywhere. Seems like the Spee spent most of its time shooting unarmed ships and running away before she got in a real fight and got scuttled, and the Eugen escorted the Bismark for a bit before becoming a support vessel. It doesn't seem like either of them have illustrious histories or super-ships (Bismark and Yamato, while ineffective, are cool just for their firepower). Is it just people who are way into Nazi Germany or are they special to germans a la the Arizona?

The Locator posted:Nothing really that I can see. In the 2nd video you might have done better to turn into the planes after eating the first torpedo run instead of away, but if a carrier is going to devote 3 TB groups to you, and manual drop, you are absolutely going to get hit unless he's bad or you get really lucky. When they stagger the drops like that 2nd video, they are trying to get you to burn your repair immediately (like you did) and then cause flooding with the next drops (you got lucky). Just seconding the "turn into the torps" advice. If you had turned into the first torp drop instead of away it looks like it would have hit you before it armed. I prefer turning in personally because I noticed CVs like to get greedy and try to drop torps as close as possible. The first vid you played pretty much perfectly, and if I was the CV pilot in question I wouldn't say either of those were successful runs on you.

So evidently the extra port slot is worth $1.27. Well going by the $29.79/6500 gold number and assuming one slot is not on sale (i.e. 300 gold) then an extra port slot is valued at $1.37. So uh, I guess you save $0.10?

It also helps the higher tier you are and the more guns you have. I'm in the New York and loving it, but it's been a struggle up to that point. Also I swear whatever the Tier 4 IJN BB is is actually worse than the T3 when it comes to accuracy.

cock hero flux posted:So what I've learned in this game so far is that ramming a Battleship with a Cruiser kills both of you, Battleships are too slow to avoid being rammed by Cruisers, and Battleships can't kill Cruisers in the time it takes them to get rammed unless they get really lucky. It does a certain amount of damage to each player based on what ship class is ramming/being rammed. A full health BB shouldn't die to a cruiser ramming it, and it wont even really notice a DD ramming it. On the other hand, if you're at like 25% health and a cruiser rams you you're toast. Also the cruiser should be dead long before he gets into ramming range. Worst case scenario just run away from him, buy some time for your secondaries and rear turrets to do work on him.
