My one disappointment with Killing Floor retail was losing the UT2k4 playback system, which just let you make playlists using whatever music you had on your computer. I always wondered why that feature didn't come in, given it was the same engine and all.

Adding to that, I recall mention somewhere (might have been here?) about the game staying in early access for roughly ~6 months, but maybe that was one of the devs comparing it to the development cycle of Red Orchestra.

Is there a way around this? I've never seen a <number>-pack on Steam allowed as a gift, since the way they work is that you get a copy and then <number-1> copies pop up in your inventory. Sort of blows to be honest.

The Medic guns are all excellent, the SMG is pretty much laser accurate and is perfect to pop heads and both the shotgun and assault rifle have great damage. Most weapons in the game have a lower ammo stock compared to KF1, so short-controlled bursts and all that.

Yeah, I've been having the same problem, for me it started after one of the beta patches (I want to say 1003, but I can't be sure, as I didn't play much in the later beta period), but was clear before. It is rather grating, I've tried reducing graphical options without success.

I had a dream where the Matriarch boss was literally Margareth Thatcher in a Mechsuit. After beating her first phase she ejected and the suit self-destructed in a huge rear end explosion, then the HMS Invincible crashed into the map and she parachuted in. We had to fight SAS to reach her inside, as it turned out the specimens were actually released by her to rid Britain of its immigrants and underclass.

One major upside for Commando, that people often ignore, is that they get % bonus damage to all weapons, not only to their perk ones, which makes them surprisingly flexible when it comes down to choosing their arsenal or leveling up side perks. That said, I am still mainly a Medic because it is the best.

Shine posted:How does class grinding make Killing Floor a better experience for the players? Yeah, I perfectly agree as well, but there is a large amount of people who get really invested in watching numbers grow. It is a proven way of holding an user base, as prestige systems in several shooters and MMOs in general have shown, so I am quite confident it will never go away. At least it is a better system than the one in KF1 or Red Orchestra 2, as you can level up rather quickly in comparison to Tripwire's previous games.

Colosmicon posted:If TWI really wants to flash numbers in the bottom left-hand corner of my screen, they should implement a kill-combo system instead. Combo-based powerups would jive really well with the game's charming, meathead aesthetic, and could reward players for skilled play in a way that the experience point system can't. Granting powerups from kill combos could potentially solve existing gameplay flaws, like the current incentive for players to kite scrakes around the map until all of the trash is done spawning. You're much more likely to take on that scrake if you have a limited time window of increased headshot damage or weapon stability. Adding a combo system also creates more possibilities for perks, and, depending on implementation, it could theoretically replace the experience system altogether, maybe by tying certain class bonuses to "high scores". Kill your dick. Now I want a Bulletstorm 2 with KF2's gore system and I know I ain't getting it.

Honestly, I think the Commando is fine, apart from night vision being friggin' useless in the current maps. It is just that the class' main advantage is flexibility, given how their damage bonus applies to all weapons and a lot of their perk talents affect more than their weapon types, it is just that we don't have that many choices for them to go off-perk with as the case may be./

I remember the old days of West London (UT2004 era even) when the go-to plan was to use a bug with the chainlink gate in the back of the police station that pushed you up when it was closing and then just stay up there on the walls slaughtering zeds. There were no husks back then, at most a Siren might scream some health away. Then the mod team changed the gate to instagib any player on its path. Good times.

Here is to dreaming that the update after this one is faster, given how SWAT/Gunslinger/Sharpshooter probably don't need too many new mechanics added to make them work in comparison to Firebug and Demo. Ninja will depend on how satisfied TW is with the melee balance in the upcoming patch.

Honestly, the Grenade Pistol feels way too unreliable in the beta. M72 is cool, RPG is pretty ace, but its weight and specialized use make it more of a choice for fighting Hans. C4's purpose means it is pointless to get it before Fleshpounds show up, so Demo has to either get dual 9mms or an off perk weapon (Medic SMG is cool) to be useful before he can afford to jump to tier 3.

A Zerk that can parry consistently is like a Commando who can put down headshots all the time, the class isn't overpowered, it is just the player who is competent. I think Demo could use a +reload speed base perk improvement like Firebug has, even though Firebug is the class that has the least use for it when using weapons other than the Trenchgun.

KF1 had an objective mode where you had to go around the map doing stuff, escorting VIPs and stuff like that. The KF2 interface does have a game type space for it, with Survival the only option, which suggests others are planned.

Yeah, Gunslinger and Sharpshooter don't exactly add new mechanics compared to the Firebug/Demolitionist needs, they shoot bullets that kill guys, though I imagine it will be a challenge to balance them so they each have an useful role without making other perks useless.

Get 200 kills with weapon x to unlock fancy cosmetic option y to keep people even at 25 going? I dunno. Something. Maybe after they add another couple perks. People mining the game data found voice responses to players with prestige (as in resetting their levels for some minor bonus/bragging rights), so the latter is at least on the works.
