You didn't really get a chance to see how much of an rear end in a top hat he was. Geralt was there for maybe a day. You do get to see hints of it though, like him being an rear end in a top hat to Triss for no reason and refusing to call her by her first name.

Triss's outfit is over-the-top and ridiculous but I think that's why I like it. It's something that an elven princess would wear, not a sorceress who is supposed to be in hiding. Might as well go nude for all the attention that dress would bring her.

I'm having a bitch of a time finding Golden Oriole. I found the Enhanced and Superior Golden Oriole but not the original. I've checked all the herbalists, none of them sold it and from what I understand, potion formula placement in chests is random. So I guess I need to keep on going around and opening all chests? Does anybody know if you can find formulas in Smuggler's Caches?

You probably have but just to make sure - have you visited Gremist on Skellige and his halfling pupil's hut in Velen? I think also Keira Metz and Peller (the old guy from the goat escort mission) sell a lot of recipes.

I did. I visited all of them, save for Keira since she's gone. I went back and double checked and the halfling herbalist had Golden Oriole just sitting there even though I cleaned him out before. Oddly, it said I already had it even though it wasn't in my alchemy list and wasn't able to make it. Way to make my hours searching chests for it trivial, huh.

This playthrough, I didn't get the chance to harass Yennefer at Kaer Morhen about the bed. When she tells Geralt to stop, he stops and it doesn't give me the option to press her and get tossed in the lake. What gives? Is it because I played nice with Yennefer this time instead of hooking up with Triss?

This time around I helped Hjalmar in King's Gambit and we didn't even find out that Birna was behind the bear attacks. We just killed some bear people and Hjalmar was all like "WELP WE SURE SOLVED THAT MYSTERY". Everybody was talking about how Hjalmar will be a good king just as long as Crach is around to reign him in except Crach is scheduled to die later on. The game is telling me I made the wrong choice, isn't it?

Just finished this game. I loved it overall and look forward to their next endeavor.

One thing that really bugged me in this game though was crafting. Generally it was tedious. Alchemy was better than the others.

First was the crafter requirement. It wasn't immediately clear to me what level of crafter I was working with. When you unlock the best crafters, there is no convenient way to get to them, especially the one in Velen. Honestly there should have been a signpost right next to them. Also I think it should have been easier to tell what you had and how much you need for a given recipe with our without pinning. Finally I think you should be able to craft from your stash.

These are obviously niggling issues in on otherwise great game. If the next project fixes these issues then I'll be really happy. Alternatively you could take out gear crafting.

Crafting was a lot worse in Witcher 2, believe me.

But the game giveth and taketh away in equal in equal measure. Geralt doesn't have any invincibility frames so enemies can straight up hit you in the middle of a dodge or you strike a blocking opponent and somehow you take damage as they get pushed back.

Wrong. There's a skill you can get that prevents you from taking damage during dodges and rolls. Also, if you knock an enemy down with Aard and you choose to finish them, during that whole animation, you're invulnerable.

I haven't played the previous games but is there a reason the Witcher only seems to get involved with sorceresses? Every lady in the game seems to be a mage of some sort. Why isn't one of your love interests a smith, or a warrior, or a anything other than a magic user? Just the sort of circles he keeps and the work he does?

Normal ladies don't tend to get involved with witchers. The most they'll do is gently caress them but on account of witchers being sterile and nomadic, they aren't very good husband material. Also, filthy mutants etc etc. If a human woman DID marry a witcher, it wouldn't really turn out that fab anyway since witchers age really slowly. Eventually, she'd die of old age provided she didn't die of something else first.

Sorceresses have none of these problems. They are also ageless and sterile and normal people also distrust them. The nomad thing might be a slight hitch but sorceresses can teleport so that really isn't a big deal.

With drowners, you have to learn how to deal with the mobs. Don't ever let yourself get surrounded and use Aard or Igni. Igni will set a lot of them of fire, giving you a quick reprieve and giving you the chance to focus on one without getting attacked while Aard affects less of the group but knocks a few of them down, giving you a chance to instant kill.

Really glad for the input I got on playing the first one. I've been having quite a bit of fun, although did anybody else feel like resolving the Human-Vodyanoi conflict in Act IV was a little...subdued? My resolution was to literally ask for a token of peace from Julian(?) and the Vodyanoi priest, turn the items in to the Lady of the Lake, and presto, problem solved. It didn't really seem like there was much of a conflict. Nothing like the Scoi'atel/Order issue, at least, and most of the humans seemed more preoccupied with things like the wedding than with whatever issue was transpiring between the two groups.

What you did was the neutral option. You could've also either sacrificed the village prize cow to the vodyanoi or just killed the vodyanoi and their god outright.

There is a fleder and a garkain in it along with a dead guy with a diary talking about caving. High up in the cave is a ledge with an illusion but I cannot see a way to get up there.
