The fix for missing bomb recipes is to drop and destroy the base bombs that you have (just for the affected bomb, not all of them). The higher recipes then show up.

Okay so I just have to ask to because I am paranoid. I am level 14 or so, I am running around Novigrad doing mainquest stuff there because I had read that you could get some great Gwent cards from Zoltan eventually. I wanted to do that before heading to Skillige. However, there are a lot of successive quests trying to free Dandelion. I just met Roche and am about to go kill Whoreson Junior. I forgot to meet up with Cleaver for the "Gangs of Novigrad" quest because I didnt see it in the dozen+ sidequests I have, and now that I talked to Radovid and got Whoreson's location, the quest to meet up with Cleaver failed. If I continue to do this mainquest stuff before heading to Skellige is there anything else major I am going to gently caress up? I know you can go to Skellige at any time but now I keep getting this "well I shouldnt leave this quest to save Dendelion dangling because I know that once I get to Skellige I'll be there for a while" feeling.

Same thing for crafting and alchemy, where you have to scroll through giant lists instead of just selecting tabs for the appropriate category. Notes and books should be added to the glossary once you read them.
Potions, Decoctions, bombs, trophies, food, books, mutagens, potion ingredients, crafting materials, weapons, and clothing/armor should each have their own tab.

I love this game to death (best RPG I have ever played) but good god the missions you get where you need to "read the note/letter/book you found" is really really obtuse to me. These books/notes/letters should be saved to a glossary so you can discard the poo poo from your overburdened inventory. What about the notes on the plague from the rattower? Can I toss 'em or could I give them back to Keira later?

There should be a chest you can store stuff you do not want to carry around. Yeah I really like how the game abstracts Geralt using saddlebags, but I have 150 Dwarven Spirit, 150 Alcholest, 200 Waters (that all weigh next to nothing) and innumerable crafting/alchemy components/ingredients, a Nilfgaardian Doublet, and a billion mutagens that I do not want to carry around on me - I should be able to drop them in a loving chest. And yes I know I can drop them on the ground and come back later but that just seems blech to me.

edit: also, when shopping, if you mouse over an item you already own, it should light up in your own inventory so you can see how many you have. I like to stay topped up on the rare alchemical ingredients and crafting materials but it is such a headache to search through all of my crafting poo poo to find if what I think I may be low on is actually low, especially because all alchemy and crafting stuff goes in the same tab.

Sorry for the rant. I really love the game but the inventory is driving me nuts.

A chest would make it even worse because now you also have to tediously think about "what should I put in the chest?", in addition to the already existing and tedious questions, "what should I drop?" and "what should I sell?". Selling items should just be removed entirely, then there's no reason to pick up junk, and there should be a potion and bomb tab, and no weight limit. That would probably be enough. So you hang around in Velen and spend like 30 hours of gameplay doing dual main quest chains there only to find out: Yep, Ciri went to Novigrad. Now go to Novigrad, where Yennefer already told Ciri was going. Because only now does Geralt know she was going there, and not before when Yennefer told him she was. :geno:

I guess I'm just confused as to why Geralt didn't just go right to Novigrad in the first place, unless I missed something.
The thing I am most amused by is that once you get to Novigrad (yes I know you can pretty much go straight there but still) you spend an incredible amount of time loving around murdering half the population of Novigrad's underworld/Witch Hunter population, plus trekking back out through the far corners of Velen, just to find Dandelion (I am seriously thinking of keeping a tally of number of humans killed and monsters slayed in the questline(s) to find and free Dandelion). Nilfgaard can run with 5 medics, 4 spies, and a leader ability that lets them play one of their own spies from the enemy graveyard that nobody else has an equivalent to. Barring a disastrously bad hand, they're going to have card advantage over anybody, often by a hilarious factor. From what I've seen of their deck they can't ordinarily get the same huge numbers as Monsters or Northern Realms on a round where they try to go big, but instead they can play the same strength 10 Black Archers / Heavy Fire Scorpion every single round to constantly force resources out of their opponents while totally controlling the pace of the game by having twice as many cards in hand.

As an added, perk, they're much less vulnerable to scorch than Northern Realms. Tight Bonds can make some huge numbers, it also turns the units into scorch magnets and unless you were lucky enough to draw your one Medic and have decoys left over you aren't going to be able to recover those cards. Nilfgaard goes into a game expecting to play half their units from the discard pile anyways, and with their inevitable card advantage they have a pretty good opportunity to just wait you out before playing their best cards. This also makes them indirectly less vulnerable to weather, since their play style is less committal in general.

I'm curious as to how you'd get a 200-point round out of them, though. Even with like 15 cards on the table, they don't have the same kind of crazy stacking bonuses you can get out of Northern Realms.
I really wish I could find a second 10 strength archer dude, that always shoots for the knee, and a 5th Imperia Infantry unit and all the spies and medics. This is one of my pet peeves, actually; I never saw a Golem Heart despite killing a billion golems, I saw one Ekimmara Hide total because I didn't realize there are only, like, two in the entire drat game and you need to save scum the hide because it's not a 100% drop. At the very least I would prefer a vendor to show up in act 3 or something with all these rare monster drops in case you missed them.

My favourite instance of bizarre itemization is that I found the enhanced and superior versions of Petri's Philtre very early on, and went through the entire game thinking I missed a vendor with the base recipe somewhere. I didn't, it's just that the base version is found in an area you can't get to outside of a main story quest, and you don't actually visit it until practically the end of the game.

This is putting aside that I've found potion and bomb recipes in random boxes disconnected from any identifying markers. I'm hoping that's something dynamic, and randomly distributed, and not that you miss out on a potion if you didn't check some random box by the lake in Undvik.
:agreed: I am to the point that I am going to install the mod or whatever it is that lets you do console commands because I hate getting hosed by the RNG. I was really hoping that when they stated the game would so incredibly long (which I am very happy about; it is a great game) that it would mean I would get to use great late-tier skills, items, and whatnot (that in other games you unlock and then beat the game 30 minutes later) for more than a tiny% of the game. But if I see people saying they only hit about level 30, and my level 23 Geralt cant even dent the health bar on a Venomous Arachas just to make the enhanced (not superior) version of a basic witcher potion, I'm a little disappointed.

So in the High Stakes tournament you end up in a fist-fight with Finneas. I cant bring out my sword, cast signs, or drink potions, but the guy punches about 1000x harder than I do and about three time as fast....what in the everloving gently caress is this about? It is the only thing this game has made me nerdrage about.

You can win any fistfight in the game by just using the guard button to counter a punch, riposting with light attacks until they start to guard, and repeating until you win.
Except when he hits me it is for about 1/5 of my health yet when I hit him it is for about 1/100th of his. It will take me all night, especially because I can only usually get 1 punch in after I successfully reposte and I only get 4 chances to gently caress up a reposte before he kills me. Its loving stupid. Everything else about this game is about making choices: I want to pull out my sword and stab the fucker.

edit and this is on Normal difficulty. I should not have to change the difficulty for a loving fistfight.
