I worked Norwegian Constitution Day yesterday and jesus christ it must have looked like I was carrying an extra baton. Everywhere I turned there were pretty blond 18-25 yearold students walking about pissed. I need to start working those public events again, I got lectured by some bitter fat old Sergeant because apparently having members of the public kiss me on the cheek all day is unbecoming behavior for a Police officer. I told him it was lucky I wasn't smearing them across a mattress

I was drinking with an ex-cop from Las Vegas last night. He was telling me that an unpaid £500 bar bill is a felony and you get 3-5 years for it. I think it's time you lot started wearing black uniforms with skulls on the collars.

Over here you get a formal police caution and maybe a small fine. If you are really unlucky you go to Magistrates (read: Joke) court and get a slap on the wrist.

Breach of the peace usually doesn't result in any sort of punishment. Assault on Police is usually dealt with via a £100 ticket, so it's unlikely anyone will go to court or end up with a criminal conviction.

Bernard McFacknutah

Assault on Police is only used for the least serious assaults, if they bruise you it will be actual bodily harm, if they cut you it will be grievous bodily harm etc and you may well get a harsher penalty if found guilty in court. But Assault on Police is a nothing offense, like drunk and incapable, unless you do it about a dozen times.

Most of the time assault on Police is limited to a shove or grabbing you to try and pull you away from someone.

Basically everyone that got arrested for invading that court will get away with more or less no consequences. I'm guessing if you hosed with a US court you'd get charged with some mental felony like 'Satanic molestation of a court of law.'

Similar to the look I get when I bring a bloke in for selling lighters in a public place. The charge is so old and rare it isn't even on the custody system.

I can MMS people, get tracked by GPS, make normal phone calls. Although sadly there is no camera yet so I still have to use my personal phone to sext superiors.

Not much you can do in that situation other than twat a few people. Thing is I would have got backup in the Met within about 15 seconds so eeeeeveryone would have gotten nicked, probably for violent disorder as it fit the ticket. That poor bastard did the best he could with not a lot.

Hang on, that WAS the Met. Shameful. Where was TSG and why weren't they loving demolishing that crowd.

Then again, what was he risking his personal safety and also job through use of force protecting, a private event that appears to have failed to secure itself properly? Seems like their problem and more of a civil matter...

Problem is down here, a situation like that can very quickly escalate to the point where you have a riot inside the event. Apparently that's held in Finsbury Park so plenty of gang nominals about. Often when you see a nightclub or festival get rushed only half the people want in for a good time, the other half want to stick someone.

Personally I'd have probably popped the gas out and given everyone some good news. Less paperwork than a baton and the CS lingers in the air for a while so no one is going to approach the gate. Getting your stick out on your own when there is a crowd is pretty gutsy as you are just as likely to have it snatched and used on you. Anyone who says they would start kung fu fighting or cuffing people in a situation like that are stupid or lying.

Now I understand why you Americans just shoot them before they get to custody.
