I think it just means that strength is now the designated crafting attribute, with some of the others still having some crafting specializations of their own.

Somehow both the controller and mouse implementation suck for NV (and 3, I think) on PC. Mouse acceleration is on by default, and aiming is loose with a gamepad.

Morrowind had cool stuff like that hat that made you sprint a couple times faster but at the cost of effectively blinding you. Its magic system was robust enough (or broken? may have been an exploit) where you could nullify the vision penalty. Or that jump scroll that killed the user from the fall because of the height involved.

Boogaleeboo posted:If it was just one there would be no reason not to have it because the game is going to give you a shitload of Perks to work with and everyone could spare 3 to order around like 90% of all mobs in the game. Or maybe realistically 70% because they go big into robots too. 9 Perks to order around everything on the planet isn't a lot when you'll have at least 50 by the time you can get to order humans around. By level 3 you could have the chance to make every single living creature in the game stand down. That's the most impressive Charisma has ever been. Not if the charisma requirement is high enough. That said, this is something I've wanted RPGs to have since forever, and am quite (pleasantly) surprised I'll see it in a Bethesda game of all things.

It'll probably still be OP but at very least you're less likely to have the situation where a high-INT character was better at combat than a low-INT character who specialized in the appropriate stats. I never liked or understood the link in the first place. Accelerated leveling is something I prefer avoiding in Bethsoft games, so the INT perks better be good.

Personally I find the minute men/laser muskets dumb. Maybe bethesda has a neat twist explaining it, but it strikes me as emblematic of the sort of "theme park" design they populate their games with, of throwing a bunch of wacky ideas into their games, regardless of how well they stick. Like what they did with Vaults (which sometimes worked and sometimes didn't, imo). Before the inevitable "but the originals did it too" defense: maybe it's less offensive and feels more like a throwaway joke when that stuff is relegated to text, leaving more to your imagination. And also, the wacky stuff in Fallout 2 is a major criticism of that game.

Hakkesshu posted:It had a bunch of weird referential stuff that was the late 90s equivalent of stuffing memes into your game. There's a Monty Python random event, UFOs/Area 51, a boxer shouts "Adrian!" while you fight him, stuff like that, among some of the crazy items they added. FO3 and NV went even crazier of course, but at the time it stood in stark contrast to the original, tonally. It just got too overt and frequent in 2.
