I always meant to ask – what is that little twang you feel in your chest when you watch someone wipe out hard? Has this weird sensation ever been researched? For instance, the skateboarder 3:12 at or the cyclist at 4:08 give me a little jolt (for lack of a better term) in my upper body. Curiously enough, it only happens during the first viewing.

I sometimes wonder why someone thought it was a smart idea in general to have the throttle on a motorbike accelerate if for some reason the bike gets away from you and you try to hold on. Probably because it would result in clips like this. mcbexx has a new favorite as of 22:59 on Sep 4, 2016 |

Memento posted:I love a good ordering gently caress up story. I used to run a small software development company based in Europe. We had a fairly popular program that sold for USD 29,00. A company from the US ordered 3 copies for a total of USD 87,00, payment by wire transfer. We shipped the licence keys and awaited payment. A couple of days later a lady from their purchasing department called and said they made a mistake and accidentally wired 87,000 dollars to our account. I told her not to worry and explained to her that our invoicing software (being from Europe) used commas as decimal separators and dots as thousands separators, so the invoice was 87.00 ("87,00" being the invoice amount) and not 87,000. She insisted they had wired 87,000 dollars. I logged into our banking account and there was a transaction for 87,000 dollars to our account. We eventually had the two banks handle the chargeback and eat the fees, since the exchange rate had dropped by 0.02 cents over the weekend, which would have resulted in a loss of $1,740.00 for either party had we tried to straighten it out between ourselves. That's my schadenfreudy ordering story.

Eponine posted:I remember one of these from probably 10 years ago on my hometown radio station. Girl calls in about a several months-long relationship that went badly because she didn't like the guy's dog. They call the guy and give him the ultimatum that the girl gave him: get rid of your dog and we can date. Dude says "gently caress no. I've had this dog for six years and I knew that girl for four months. Me and the dog are a package deal." And hangs up the phone. The girl was devastated that he would choose a dog over her. It was (likely staged), but great. There is nothing weird about that guy. What's your point?

Watching episode 2 of "Dirty Money" on Netflix and reading on the second screen that Scott Tucker has been sentenced to 16 years in prison and a 1.3 bn (BN!) judgement for the poo poo he and his cronies pulled (predatory payday loans) is the good stuff. The intro of the episode has some repo men pulling his prized racing cars from the property. Nnnnnnnghhh yeaaaaaaah. It's even better when you see him comment on the proceedings and not showing the slightest bit of remorse. Speaking of assholes going to prison, what happened to the Shkreli sentencing? Has it been delayed? It was scheduled for January 16 IIRC. Nasser, Tucker, Shkreli ... they always come (or go) in threes. Oh, Shkreli is the opener for episode 3. mcbexx has a new favorite as of 01:23 on Jan 31, 2018 |
