Riffing off this kind of thing is fine. Maybe not the most creative idea, but fine. And it would actually be a fun thing to do for anything other than Star Citizen. Trouble is CIG is not even close to having what anyone could charitably call a complete game. Yet they're allocating artists and coders who should be doing real work to this timewasting nonsense that purely serves as marketing to raise more money. Also to have such a blatant copy of the logo of a real TV show is extremely loving shaky ground when you're trying to sell spaceship jpegs. Maybe it's considered safe as it's a parody, but if someone at Amazon sees it they could still find themselves on the receiving end of a nasty letter. get a loving refund it dont matter fucked around with this message at 15:23 on Nov 21, 2016 |

FactsAreUseless posted:but as I said in QCS I just read the first few posts on the first page of that thread so correct me if I'm totally off the mark, but, is it literally just a thread complaining about the presence of the star citizen thread? Here's a solution: don't look at it. Has anyone put forward a really compelling reason for getting rid? Is SA stored on a 200MB hard drive and the sc thread is taking up valuable bytes? I'm gonna be kind and assume that rather than being thin-skinned babies who get upset over something that has absolutely no impact on them, everyone complaining about it is a cig shill who has realised they can't attempt to debate the broken non-game here and have instead gone for the tactic of trying to get the thread killed.

cool new Polack jokes posted:So, is the total number of "Star Citizens" the total number of individual pledges? That makes more sense than 1.6 million+ unique people buying into this. Haha nope. That 1.6m is just the number of user accounts. So as well as your regular garden variety backer it includes dummies who signed up multiple times to buy stuff on separate accounts, people who signed up for free fly weekends and those who just created an account to post on the forum. Ortwin revealed the actual number of paying backers is around 500k. So next time you see some shitizen claiming that the game has 1.6m paying backers be sure to laugh heartily in their stupid face.

Now I'm not a game developer, but building detailed planetary surfaces without even a single completed solar system strikes me as a tad premature. If the goal is a fideltious sim where you can seamlessly transition from space to planet, it seems like having an idea of how orbits and things are going to work would be useful. Also helpful would be your game engine being able to recognise the difference between atmosphere and a vacuum. That is surely a fundamental requirement for a space game. Star Citizen's development is like someone has set out to build their own house, but before they've even purchased a plot of land or commissioned an architect they've bought all the fixtures and fittings.

How are they still throwing so much money at this, it's loving insanity. The funding tracker has got to include store credit, that's the only sensible explanation that doesn't involve some hardcore mental illness. It's approaching the budget for GTA V (including marketing). That took 4 years to hit the last generation of consoles (a big achievement in itself given the limitations), then came out on the next gen hardware a year later with major new features, then a year after that on PC. In the same time it took Rockstar to develop and launch one of the biggest and most detailed games ever on two console generations Star Citizen has managed: a hanger where you can walk around looking at ships, a buggy arena shooter which crashes if you fire too many missiles, and an incomplete solar system with a few stations, rote missions and clothes shopping. Iglocska posted:Holy crap, some people on reddit defending Star Citizen are just utterly dim... This person is an idiot. Their argument is "there never was a release date". Even if you ignore the specific years they gave for release, this is not a good thing. A project without a deadline is one that will never be finished.

A "pirate swarm" (?), A BAR?! Think of the gameplay possibilities of a loving pirate lounge! INCREDIBLE. Truly Crobber is a visionary. So for 2016 CIG has managed: - couple of new ships - clothes shopping - one new space station - "persistence" (aka save your clothing) - "pirate swarm" - a new bar/lounge - 4v4 deathmatch FPS in an FPS engine (maybe) And this is being generous when several of these features are not yet live to the general public.
