Every greyhound or borzoi I have met has tried to sit in my lap.

I’ve met only one greyhound irl, and every time I was over at that house and sat down on the couch, she would attempt to sit on my lap - but in that way that dogs will sit where they go around in a circle several times before lowering themselves to the ground, thus maximizing the number of times her bony protrusions and claws impacted my dick and balls. Absolutely did not understand that this was happening or why I would try to stop her from pulverizing my junk, and manifested the most devastated sad-dog face I have ever seen when you tried to get her to not crush your genitals. Majestic animal, no notes.

I will never understand why the AKC's breed standard for golden retrievers is "Intelligent, Friendly, Devoted." Has anyone ever actually met a golden with its own independent set of brain cells? I love them dearly don't get me wrong, probably my favorite dog breed, but every single one I've ever met has been dumb as a sack of hammers.

I wish they had videos of when they had the little kids ride sheep at rodeos when I was younger. No saddle, just hang onto the wool until you fall off and the last one still on got a trophy. I still remember the kid who must have really wanted that trophy because he was sitting like you would on top of a horse that you were riding, but on the side of the sheep as he'd slid 90 degrees over but hadn't let go yet.

My local rodeos would do this as well. I have vivid memories of a tiny child who had slid all the under a sheep and yet was somehow still hanging on for dear life while it ran around the arena. They would release several sheep and riders at once, and after they got over their initial panic the sheep would form a flock and go trotting around aimlessly. This kid ended up still on (“on”) his sheep after the flock had formed, and essentially disappeared inside it, so that the adults had to go digging through a bunch of sheep to find him.

Needless to say, he won, and I hope he cherishes whatever little trophy they gave him because he earned that poo poo.

I’m reading Jurassic Park, which turns out to be quite different from the movie, and there’s a scene early on where one of the kids gets playtime with a baby velociraptor, which is described as toothless, affectionate toward human caretakers, and craving physical contact and snuggles like a weird leathery kitten. I want to pet this extinct fictional animal so bad.

In lieu of that, anyone got some good cuddly reptiles? Bonus points if they give off vibes of wanting to be around people for reasons other than “this soft thing exudes warmth.”

The propensity of normal-sized cats to just randomly punch holes in your body because you didn’t pet them exactly right would make me extremely hesitant to tease the panther. God what a beautiful animal though.

Increasingly convinced that big dogs see kittens the way little kids see stuffed animals / blankies, and kittens see big dogs in the same way (unless they're terrified of them).

While I would never want that kitty to be harmed, I can't help but laugh at the idea of her getting to square off with that lion for real and getting launched into space (as long as she landed safely on all fours). "Pick on someone your own size" works both ways, kitty!

If you didn’t want to be crawled on by big lizards, maybe you shouldn’t be radiating all that lovely body heat??? Rude to hoard it imo.

I feel like you could do an interesting heat map study and / or incredibly niche fetish video by having someone lie down in a tank full of lizards and seeing which parts of the body they decide to bask on.
