"Everybody betray me. I fed up with this worl." - Iron man, shortly before throwing his helmet out of a window. Ever since the last thread was posted wayyyyyy back in 2013, the comic movie landscape has changed significantly. Ant Man and Batman v. Superman actually got made AND came out (and one of them was really good!); Amazing Spider-Man was supposed to have two more sequels and also like a Sinister Six movie for some reason and also maybe a goddamned Aunt May movie? (imagine getting your friends together to go see Aunt May, imagine the tabloids discussing the hot young male actors who are up for the role of Ms. Lion!); and now they’re maybe making a GI Joe/Transformers/MASK shared universe or something I think? Comic movies are fun and weird and for the most part, they’ve gotten pretty good in the past decade! Can the studios keep it up? I dunno! Let’s talk about it! This thread’s for discussing comic movies of all shapes and sizes. What’s the most racist: Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One in Dr. Strange or James Remar as Raiden in Mortal Kombat? Who’s done the most damage to their respective properties: Zack Snyder’s grimdark murder paradiso or just every damned Fantastic Four movie - just all of ‘em? And what’s the thing you’re most looking forward to: Hollywood to finally finish figuring out what manga is or the inevitable barrel scratching of Marvel studios, giving rise to a film starring Razorback and his ELECTRIFIED MANE? So let’s talk comic movies. Here’s what’s in the pipeline: Upcoming Movies The following films have announced release dates and are listed through the end of 2017. Michael B. Jordan will play not a villain, but a new hero: Jim Hammond, the original, android Human Torch, lost since WWII and found and restored by Wakandan scientists.

Ghostbusters is a solid B. Great performances by McKinnon, Jones, and Hemsworth bogged down by bad directing, maybe the worst editing I've ever seen in a major film release (they use the SAME FOOTAGE for taking the packs out of the car, the obvious cut dance sequence), and a really do-nothing script (literally no one gets a character arc, there's no heart in this movie, and that third arc... man...). McKinnon, Jones, and Hemsworth being funny make it at the very least enjoyable to watch, but it's not, by definition, a good film. Oh, and also Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy are there. I'm not sure who they were playing. It seems like they just wandered on set and started doing things and the director said "YES! THAT!"

They talked for quite a while about the movie, Bill clearly excited because he rarely gets to talk about anything but Ghostbusters. As the conversation ended, the fan leaned in real close and whispered "Nobody will ever believe you" and then was on his way. Deep cut

I actually really don't like Leslie Jones on SNL but liked her in Ghostbusters. I think the thing is SNL is about playing a character and she's not really good at that. She's good at playing herself. She's naturally funny.

Hey, uhhh... uh... so who hasn't been in a Marvel Studios film that they desperately need to use (outside of the Fox properties)? I'd wager Namor is a big one since they supposedly have his rights. Maybe Squirrel Girl to strike while the iron is hot. Kang?

I wouldn't mind if the Dr. Strange sequel also had Blade and was the Montessi Formula storyline. Just so we can have the villain be Dracula.

Netflix's Death Note was surprisingly fine. 6 or 7/10. It should have been a series and not a movie - it rushed through a lot and would have definitely benefited from cliffhanger endings. Agreed that it gets a lot better near the end.
