VR Pool is coming, with multiplayer June 1st. I enjoyed their 3d version of the game, and this looks to be even better in VR. http://www.vrfocus.com/2016/05/pool-nation-vr-launch-date-has-now-been-confirmed/

Mordaedil posted:I have a really hard time seeing it work out that way. You generally stick to certain areas, so they will be mapped fully at some point. So your device will be able to orient itself based on its surroundings relatively easily, given powerful enough sensors and processors. Googles technology for mapping the environment is probably the best to use, but I'm sure stereo cameras or something similar would work fine.

So Reggie Watts is playing in altspace vr tomorrow 8pm pst. Should be interesting to see how that all works out. VR concerts using avatars? I wonder, will have something custom, or will it just be video footage? https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/4kztqy/reggie_watts_performs_in_altspacevr_on_526_and/

Or is it just "ha ha, look at the obviously staged promotional photo"? It's a gaming coming out where you and 3 other people are on the bridge of a starship in star trek.

The only reviews they have are written. The rest of their video content is not review based. They are just trying stuff out like everyone else. If the lightfield technology is as good as it appears to be, I can't see any other solution being used. It's got a minimal footprint, extremely high resolution, tricks your brain into seeing depth and realism and has lower power usage.

Do I have to agree with every position someone holds in order to vote for them, even if they hold morally reprehensible positions? I vote to the left for economic reasons but I am a social conservative who is against abortion. Am I a murderer or support murder because I support abortion, or support PACs who have members who support and encourage abortion? I see the economic issue as a greater underlying problem for hundreds of millions and billions of people around the world, but I have issues with creating these overly simplistic scenarios and then criticizing someone for them. Until we see Palmer actually say and do racist things I'm not sure we can accuse and criticize him for that particular sin.

KakerMix posted:This is what I was waiting for. In ~capitalism~ you have to take on it completely, including the part where if you (as an individual with all your opinions and beliefs) do damage to your employer and their business interests then it is in your employer's best interested to preserve it's revenue and method of generating it by ejecting you as an employee. This is the logical way this goes because Palmer is worth less than positive for Facebook (maybe, I don't know what he does at Oculus at all besides being some poster-child PR person) if this is indeed some sort of scandal. So yes, active support of a political candidate should get you fired if it causes damage to your employer if you are the type to support the vague 'idea' that Trump supports. That's what makes this so good, the Trump way is to fire Palmer immediately and distance yourself from him to protect your earnings. Good thing I'm a dirty socialist then. You have a right to your awful opinions as long as they don't involve anime girl pillows.

I just spent 2 hours in FO4 in the Rift and it was an amazing experience. Whether aiming accurately and judging distance on flying insects, or using a mini-gun on some fools in a power suit. Only thing that stopped me was a sore back from standing for hours. I think the best part is the immersion. I don't get that playing the flat screen version and I lose interest quickly. Being in the world and feeling it all around just pulls you in. Also, those rats scared the hell out of me when they first came out of the ground.

If Oculus can put all that tech into cv2 along with 4k per eye, at a price point below 1000 dollars inclusive motion controls then they will have the market cornered.

Cable problems go away with wireless and new USB c cable in 20xx cards and inside out tracking. AAA titles with longer play times come out with mass adoption which needs 140 fov at least plus foveated rendering and variable focus. I have a feeling that rift 2 will blow everyone away.

I wonder if they won't have a PSVR port USB C as they do on the new 20xx nvidia cards.

Until inside out tracking figures out controller tracking behind the back valve will have a better system overall. That's really the only weakness right now with the inside out tracking.
