Barring criminals from being in public places is definitely a cool and good idea. How about we start with barring them from Riksdagen?

Going to be fun when people realize there are more convicted criminals from the majority population than there are minorities (not that Swedish police will check white people on the street)

In other news, Shah, the guy who ALLEGEDLY swindled billions from the Danish state is now in Denmark and being tried. And hearing about the case just makes it extremely clear that he's just a (very horrible) guy who got involved in the finance sector's shady parts. What annoys me is that we're treating this like a personal crime, instead of an industrial thing in the finance industry.
Basically, what I'm saying is that finance is a cancer on society and should be abolished, possibly violently.

As an economist I always get a bit pissed off when people lump in finance with economics

Stock markets are fundamentally flawed and a detriment to the economy. Finance is an education where you learn to exploit it for personal gain

A Buttery Pastry posted:

which explains why the Norwegian upper class immediately attempted to rejoin Denmark at the end of the Napoleonic wars.

This is cherry-picking worse than my original joke - the upper class in Norway consisted mostly of Danes. Henrik Wergeland called the period "400 years of Darkness" just 20 years after Norway was ceded to Sweden, so it was far from a popular notion

But, it was intended as a dark joke and not a serious post. I'm not really funny though, so I can understand the confusion

Precisely, it's like claiming Ireland is as complicit in the British slave trade because some merchants (mostly with English heritage or born English - comparable to Norway) engaged in the slave trade

Norway was only a part of the Union because the kingdom was in debt to England and Denmark offered to buy it out in return for access to natural resources

It's not like Norway didn't benefit at all (the Danish bureaucracy gave the foundation for a society with low corruption), but Denmark benefited more from the union

It's super logical and easy to convert it to Swedish. "Fems" is, of course, fem * 20 = 100. And "fjers" is fyra * 20 and "tres" is tre * 20.

Now, when you see a "halv" in front, you would do what is only logical when you're calculating what the "halv" is of something - you remove 10!

So femoghalvtres is easy. 55!

edit: I guess it's "treds"? Whatever!

I was going to make this tongue-in-cheek but this is just literally how I do it in my head. Kind of makes sense when you have in mind that their system is based in portions of 20, tjogräkning.

I read femoghalvtres as 5,15 or 6,5
