Yeah I stopped halfway through even though I found it quite funny and his acting pretty natural. It needs to be presented in future as a legal questions advice "column" with Star Trek scenarios

I love how they never show you Worf as a proto-Klingon in full view so you never really get a good look at him, making that one of the more menacing aliens in Star Trek imo.

What always creeped me out about the proto-Klingon is like, the palps? Klingons had palps at some point in their genetic history? Do they have vestigial palps somewhere, now? Is that what Worf is always doing with his jaw while superiors dress him down?

It makes sense. I imagine two Klingons with their foreheads locked together, pacing in tight circles and growling. The bat'leth is but a distant echo.

It's curious that in some sense nonsense has to make sense to be good nonsense, or at least pass the scent test. Most nonsense doesn't make sense and I'm sensitive to that, if that makes sense. Just my two cents.

I think weird Klingon infiltration war politics was interesting and was annoyed when it all got thrown away as quickly as possible.

Yeah I feel like if they were going to do that much work on the Klingons early on they needed to commit. They had a lot to justify with the design decisions but I can get into some weird, jarring ideas as long as they're interesting and well-executed. They failed on that front.

Personally, I love it when aliens do alien poo poo that throws poo poo into disarray.

I thought Endgame was fine, but ending the whole thing just ending with them being escorted to earth was a real gently caress up. They should've had at least a full episode of them dealing with returning to the AQ.

Or a television miniseries.

Plus dedicated tailors, makeup, someone to dab away your sweat, lighting to make sure you look good, and be surrounded by people matching you. Most sci-fi jackets in real life would just look like weird motorcycle jackets, plus we need to start doing global cooling if we want to usher in a jacket era.

I remember there was this crew of dudes that drove those brightly-colored plastic motorcycles up and down the street I worked on, and now and then they'd all park and come in for slices of pizza.

When they strode in, they seriously looked like some kind of 2000s action version of a Star Trek crew. All wearing blue and red and gold outfits with padding and plates stuck to them.

Where did you live? Here we just have Harley people and racist biker gangs. These colourful plastic bikers sound fun

Rochester NY. But it depends what part of town you're in. This was on Park Ave, and the sport bikes tend to zip around there between trendy bars. In my area there's grungy middle-aged leather bikers who buzz between those dim crappy bars with soaped windows.

They're forcefield cup holders I guess.

Makes you wonder how much design is there for the end user's visual assistance vs. how much is a product of the mechanical principles at work. Like one could presumably stick a cup anywhere on that black rectangle and a forcefield could find it and hold it fast. Are those lines and cup shapes intended as some sort of field emitter, or are they solely for purpose-suggestive decoration?

It is sort of amusing to watch tense episodes of Trek and imagine that every character is somehow taking in hours of holodeck media in the gaps, to work through moral dilemmas. Like that person you know who is always incredibly busy yet somehow binges hours of television.
