they just glossed over the point about the energy - you *do* get "free" energy falling into a potential well, but then if you smack into the earth at the bottom of it you lose it all as heat, so you can't fall back out of the well without getting kinetic energy from somewhere else

i think someone who went into that video confused about orbits and escape velocity is going to end up even more confused
