Fire Emblem Heroes is one of the top 5 best grossing F2P games in Japan for both iOS and Android. Most of the other top titles are much more aggressive with their monetization. This is the most competitive market in the world so even making the top ten is no small feat.

Much as I'd like Lyn or any other 5*, I got what I needed so I'm gonna call it quits on his banner and resume hoarding for the next one.

I got two in one session after striking out and getting the rolling gacha rate up to 4.25%

Wait, do people actually spend $40,000 on these mobile games? I imagined a whale would spend like maybe $1000.

Roughly 2% of F2P players actually spend money on the typical mobile game. A fraction of them are whales who make the business model viable. Some Japanese mobile games with certain niche licenses have high APRU (average revenue per user) but they're the exception.

Pokemon Go was unusual in that it had a wide range of players buying in-game items. It's the World of Warcraft of mobile games so it sort of follows its own rules. Fire Emblem Heroes probably has more of a traditional APRU.

5* Sharena gets a damage boost from her new weapon, a attack debuff AOE from her new weapon, and Fortify Def 3

Sharena improves her offence and support abilities when hits 5*. She slots well into any team since she can buff defense, rally attack, debuff enemy attack, proc Blade tomes, and has well-rounded stats.

Effie is most useful when she's holding down the line and letting her teammates do the attacking. She doesn't gain as much from being promoted to a 5* unit.

It's probably best to wait a couple of days to see how skill inheritance pans out.

No where as bad as a World Tournament in DBZ Dokkan Battle. I still have 80 stamina potions left.

Tips for the Tempest Trial:

1.) What's the best team to use if you want to consistently beat all seven lunatic levels, achieve the best survival/speed ranking, and defeat Veronica?

There's no fullproof team because the mode throws crazy stat and skill combinations that'll even wipe whales. Horse Emblem can run into Azura and mages running horse slayer tomes on a map with trees and valleys. Some of the maps, such as the one square valley or the arena with barricades, can spawn ranged enemies that made initiation very difficult.

The closest I've gotten is with a team comprised of Deathblow Reinhardt, Desperation Nino, Desperation Tharja, and Ruby Sword Olivia. The map and enemy pool favors high damage magic units with Blade/Dire Tomes. They can burst down units with two consecutive hits and have a dancer support them. I've had runs where the only damage was received on purpose to get Nino/Tharja in the desperation range.

The team's weakness was high RES units such as Felicia and Niles. Wary Fighter Hector could also be a problem, especially if he spawns on the last map. This was where Olivia came in to either tank or do chip damage. Due to its very strong core, the team is quite powerful even if they lose one unit.

2.) What should my team combination be if I want to maximize my score?

Team A (If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....):

- It needs to be able to get through the first six levels very quickly and have a decent shot at Veronica. Your composition will depend on your pulls and skill inheritance setup but I recommend a mage heavy + dancer setup that hits hard and fast
- Use reposition to initiate or to get units out of danger. It can be combined with dance/draw back to great effect. Works best on a three movement cavalry unit
- Common threats (for my teams) in early stages were Wary Fighter Hector, Firesweep Faye, Genny with Wrathful Staff, and anyone with movement assists, especially if they have huge stat inflation
- If you have her, I recommend Tharja as the 40% bonus unit. Her blade tome is quite good even at four stars and she can do very well in the last map. Lucina is also good as a heal bot and fighter
- AoE attacks like Blazing Thunder are useful here since enemies tend to clump up, especially on the last map. Remember to save charges at the end of a round since they carry over to the next

Team B (Veronica Hit squad if Team A wipes on the last map)

- You'll need a team of four that can perform multiple roles at the same time and support each other
- Red Triangle Adept (Sanaki can solo the last map if it spawns with enough green units) or a good anti-Veronica red unit
- An Anti-cav specialist. F. Robin/Ursula/Cecilia are great for baiting and taking out the mounted mage that spawns on the right of the last map
- An Anti-Armor unit. Draug is the easiest to deal with due to his low RES but Gwen and Hector can be a problem if they have wary fighter
- Tank for the melee Cav/armor and colorless units. Xander and Camus are free units that are great in this role.
- Healer if you expect to take hits. High damage bow unit if they have spawn with low def bow or mage unit

Team C (I died on stages 1-6 and need a cleanup crew)

- Whatever is needed to finish the map without using up Team B units

3.) I finally made it to 50K points and got Quickened Pulse. I can't believe it's all over. What do we do now?

What do you mean? Now we can finally play the game.

This is it, don't have anything else. Frederick has Hone Calv. I've got some stuff I can throw around a little bit I haven't used much for inheritance so maybe I can do some of that too.

It actually looks like you have the foundation for a good anti-Veronica team but getting there is the issue. A full horse emblem team with blade tomes/counter weapons is effective in the trials if you're willing to give up the bonus unit and try a harder difficulty. There is a huge jump in points from hard to lunatic but the lunatic difficulties are more likely to feature enemies with inflated stats.

Servaetes posted:

Do you have to take the bonus units on every team to retain the bonus? I'm taking Robin and the underleveled Nowi but neither are particularly good, Robin being an especially mediocre blue book. I got a Reinhardt recently that has neutral attack, but I need to get him to 5* and I don't have a readily available Death Blow 3 I could give him right away.

The bonus unit only needs to participate once in the trial for you to get the multiplier. For example, if you have your first team with Robin wipe and replace it with a team with no bonus units, then you'll still receive the bonus multiplier.

I've done it with mages and Horse Emblem. The most important thing you can do is memorize where the reinforcements spawn. You can manipulate it so your units have space to maneuver into favorable matchups. It's very easy to get zoned out since the map has many ranged and cavalry units.

I've got a Nino with Fury, and Reinhert with Death blow and a Ninian + horse healer lady on my team, but they're still not really wrecking everything. Is there something I'm missing that let's me finish Tempest and beat Veronica? Cause that last map I've just got no clue how to deal with.

Having an Attack+ Nino (with Life and Death) and Reinhardt (with Deathblow) goes a long way on the last few maps. Enemies have a huge boost to their stats so having a few extra points of attack gets you that OHKO. Hone/spur attack can make up for the deficit if you're fielding neutral attack heroes. I also use Olivia with Ruby Sword to either dance allies or soften up Hector/Veronica for Nino to secure the kill.

Neutral Zone Trap posted:

Sure, but just saying the tool is already available in that team.

Since you run two mage nukers with a dancer do you REALLY need a healer? That's what I'd look into.

I'm using three mages and a dancer. They only units that can stop this team are Felicia/Niles with 40+ Res and vantage.

i just want it to be less tedious. I got the last like 8,000 points by auto-battling through the first 4 stages on Hard instead of ramming my face into Lunatic over and over.

I'd prefer the stamina cost and the point payout to be much higher. Much of the fun of the trials comes from figuring out a strong team rather than executing a 705 point win over and over again.

Alright, so I can do that, but I'm unsure where to go from having Xander do that... What team comp do you think I should have with him?

Use Azura, Nino, and M. Robin. If you're going to bait the green mounted mage with Xander, make sure he has a hone attack buff to secure the kill on the mage and severely wound the thief. Taking down the mage and the thief opens up a lot breathing room for the rest of the team.

I have no idea how to approach this GHB even on lunatic

If you have a unit that can OHKO the blue cavalry below Berkut and immediately use draw back with a dancer, then it's possible to beat infernal with F2P units like Camus/Ursula/Olivia:

Camus and Ursula are 5* and have their default kits. Ursula works well in this map since she has an anti-cavalry tome, deathblow, and threaten resistance which can give a green mage the edge they need to one shot Berkut. It's important that Ursula is a 5* unit or else she doesn't have enough attack to kill the firesweep mounted archer in one turn. Camus is mostly there for AI manipulation, taking out the red mounted mage, and tanking the mounted green axe so the others can get in position.

Attack+ Reinhardt won't have enough power to one-shot any of the units in the second turn. With the initial goad cavalry buff, the red mounted mage can tank a deathblow+attack seal Reinhardt and KO him on the counterattack.

Try horse emblem with Xander/Titania/Ursula or Reinhardt/Brave Lyn (if you have her). Auto-battle works well with horse emblem since it can buff and use reposition/draw back effectively. Horse units with a ranged attack can steamroll Hard Level 30 and check any anti-cav unit.
