Tell me the interactions between the stats and weapons and how to build dudes with talents. I'm kinda just doing pathfinder for ranged dudes and colossus for dudes with stars on hp currently

With a bow stat like that? Bannerman.

I got a 60 base resolve, 2 star cultist. Well, 50 base, then Fearless. Dude is never letting go of that goddamn banner.

Wait. Do the polearms use your ranged skill and not the melee skill?

I would ironman it up if I could only view recruit stats before putting down the cash. I think that counts for more of my reloads than anything else.

Just like real life you get a someone's cover letter and resume. What that guy actually brings to the job you won't know until he gets to work. Welcome to management, bitch.

Is there a way to see the enemy fatigue? or are you just rough guesstimates, similar to morale?

I've lost handily in the armor department at least. I think i'm overrating spears and shield wall at the expense of having a good hammer or armor breaking option.

Spears own vs stuff that blindly runs into you. Once your melee skill gets over 60 and you get some fatigue reducing stuff like brawny and x mastery you should probably switch to a more damaging weapon. Not saying you shouldn't ever use spears, but they definitely fall off.

Best-looking one I rolled so far:

Kampstadt, Stohl, Grotenhoom and Blankwasser have harbors. Sturmfeste has one that's in ruins, I don't know if it's going to be rebuilt.
Little risk of contracts sending you to the other side of a river you can't cross or bullshit like that. Lots of mountain ranges, though.
Kampstadt and Thalstadt are big trading hubs.
I guess Heldenburg is a bit annoying to get to, and Subingen will burn.

Archer and axe bro look pretty good:

e: I started going through repdigits because why not? Seed 11 has all the harbors you'll ever need but apart from that, ehhh. 22 is sheer misery but gives you amazing melee bros. 33 gives you great bros and an acceptable map.

good seed right here

Someone give me an effort post about the different types of towns, resources, and their interactions since I can't seem to understand it on my own. IE when I start a new game how am I supposed to analyze the map and figure out how to play it.

You know, if you get a guy who still has like 57 base skill and multiple stars despite Drunk, isn't it mostly going to help him at that point?

Drunk seems like the best trait in the game honestly.

So I failed 2 missions for some town which made them hostile. So I beat up their militia while on an escort mission since we passed their town. Now the noble house is pissed and I gotta fight their footman. Am I just screwed with this house until a noble war reset or something?

e: they own half the map

When looting men on the ground, is this all stuff that would normally be picked up at the end of a fight? Are there any icons to tell me there is loot on the ground?

When you c/p the seed into the game. The box fills up with extra letters. So 94c40d will show up as 94c4094. It seems to always add the first 2 digits again for some reason.

At the moment I'm thinking twelve dudes by day 20 or so is a good target, but it's important not to rush it; you want to stick with eight through day 10 at least, and it's better to wait than to rush.

I usually skip visiting all towns because it's too much time and trouble. Friendly first, then 12 dudes then it depends. I try to pick the ones I can hit easily -- I'll have a guy with open perk slots waiting before I take the sergeant ambition, etc.

You can hit 12 dudes for the ambition then let a few die, too. Don't have to stay at 12.

There is a big variation in cost of goods between cities and villages, so look for a village that sells tools and get friendly there.

Note: this advice is only for save scumming hex editors.

Yeah, Squires seem to be really great for how soon you can afford them.
They may not be on the level of Hedge Knights or Sellswords, but you can get a Squire right out the gate and expect him to do well with any weapon. Which is nice at a point in the game when your other recruits are Farmhands and Lumberjacks that are still learning how to fight and need to use training wheel weapons like spears and pitchforks.

And on the flip side, deserters are similarly priced and absolutely awful

this game really does not give a poo poo about your time, i am like 99% convinced it was not designed with ironman in mind because the recovery is so god awful painful in this game and it isn't like a roguelike where it's easy and fun to just pick it up and restart over and over. don't play this game on roguelike. reload your fights and win them and don't lose people.

The loading screen tips disagree.
