Shadowrun isn't terribly grognardy. You'll want to highly specialize in one combat tree because you can't diplo everything, but because of the nature of the way many of the maps and encounters are designed, flanking and good positioning is merely beneficial rather than essential. I mean, unless you're playing on the highest difficulty. You can still get screwed by the rng though.
