recruiter just forwarded me the take home exercise for a position, it is literally just:quote:Make an HTTP request to a webpage and store the body of the request into a file. Once the file is created, create a new file that contains the checksum of that file. this is the kind of thing where they're looking for candidates to add some bells and whistles to stand out isn't it?

Knowing that this position is an automation engineer type gig for azure + terraform + ansible, I was going to build it as an azure function that saves to blob storage and include the terraform configurations in my submission. Would you consider this needlessly complex?

I ended up doing a powershell example, a curl | md5 example, and a tf/azure function(python) example They specifically called it out as one of the best submissions they've had, I was the only candidate to submit multiple languages, and one of two candidates to submit a complete application (not just for this position, but for overall hiring for this team)

the recruiter I am currently working with gave me a salary range for the position up front and they have also been very pleasant to work with throughout the process they did try to get a number out of me first, but when I refused they were basically “no problem, here’s the range for the position, is that ok?”

the job that I just accepted had me do a personality and iq test if I had applied for the job normally, those would have been presented as the first step of the hiring process and I would have noped the gently caress out as it actually happened, I was going through a recruiter, gone through the interview hoops, met my future team and it was framed as a please jump through these he hoops so we can actually send you the offer
