edit- It must be quite galling for the nobility living within the walled garden of western european culture and civilisation to be told what to do by those savages living the wild untamed jungle. (the world outside western europe) How dare the help get all uppity like that? Don't they know their place? Sauve-moi!

Judging by the logo alone, it's quite nice. Would stencil quite well. No sign of garbage modern corporate clip art. Wish more organisations kept their historical insignia, for better or worse.

Rebranding is just what managers do to stamp their stink on an organisation when they take charge. A metaphorical human piss against a lamp post.

The phrasing of this article makes it seem like Biden's inner circle, Congress, and the think tank class are supporting a break with Burkina Faso, while the bureaucracy in the State Department and Pentagon want to continue working with the government there.

It's to the benefit of the USA if France loses power and influence. At the same time the USA needs to provide limited lip service support to France.

A weaker France is a weaker EU, then everyone is more dependant on the USA.

"Western" intervention will lead to widespread west Africa destabilization. The pillaging and plundering by France and the USA must continue at any cost. Any cost. Tens of millions more refugees will go to Europe.

It will be hailed as restoring the democratic order, which is basically a synonym for restoring profitability to certain USA friendly private monetary interests.

It will all seem eerily familiar. Cue twilight zone music, fade to black.

If France can't keep getting cheap (below market rates) gold and more specifically, uranium (because corruption), they won't be able to fuel their nuclear energy grid for pennies on the dollar while also exporting energy to the rest of the EU at premium prices. In other words their GDP will be hosed, their credit rating will be hosed and their whole economy is fundamentally powered by colonial slavery & exploitation. So they are extremely motivated to put the... oh we don't say that word any more... back in their places.

I love it.

Frances whole economy is based around extracting from Africa for pennies and selling on in the EU for premium prices. They'll burn all of West Africa down before allowing that to stop.

Specifically France had very old granddaughtered in sweetheart prices far, far below market value from mid last century. This whole coup was about ending that. France can still buy... At market rates. Naturally that's very unacceptable because it would obliterate their GDP.

The whole topic has been and will remain very under reported.
