This game is on sale on Steam and I'm curious about it, is it as buggy as people say? I really want to get into a roleplaying game like this but I don't want to play a game that screws me over constantly

I started playing this about a week ago and the only disasterous bug I've encountered, was a three-star Legendary annihilator sentry bot with rockets that instakilled any character, even my friends level 200+ guy.

In it's current state, it's by far the least buggy Bethesda game I have ever played and the performance is somehow way better than FO4/Skyrim. I can look at god-rays without my fps slowing to a crawl.
My biggest complaints is the Atom Shop. I finally get enough atoms to buy a cool outfit I saw on the wiki and it's just not there? There were only elf costumes last week and now there's only gala stuff. How do you gently caress up a real money store so bad?

The old main story with the scorched plague is completely doable with several players, but a lot of the newer Wastelanders & BoS main quests is solo only. Depends on the time. There's definitely a dead zone between the russians going to bed and the americans coming home from work, where you can wait for a long while before you get a game.

As for caps, get to level 50 and do Daily Ops, scorched earths/a collossal problem for legendaries you can sell to vendors and stable flux which players buys for stupid amount of caps (like 3-400 each).

If anyone wants to know which Legendaries are good and which are instant scrip fodder, say so and I will post a long and boring explanation. :)

I wouldn't mind a quick rundown on what's good or not. Stuff like + bash damage is obviously garbage 98% of the time, explosive is good all the time; but effects like faster movement speed while aiming and Zealot's feels like they should be useful enough to keep sometimes.

Super Mutants and Gunners always have enough HP that Ricochet won't affect them, unless you reduce them to 40% HP.

But holy poo poo the first two hours of the game is absolute dogshit. Far Harbor shouldn't be too bad with all his prep work, except for the constant rads everywhere. My money is on the run ending in the final Automatron dungeon, it's the perfect mix of strong enemies spawning out of nowhere, having to use a companion to progress and laser attacks from all over the place.

It gets better. The beginning part with Knight Shin sucks rear end, because the first BoS knight you interact with is an amalgamation of the worst parts of the FO4 brotherhood. I think the presentation of the story about what happend to them on the way to WV is pretty interesting, the main Scribe is cool and the paladin is voiced by Artemis from Always Sunny. You also get some incredibly powerful weapons from the BoS quests.

I have two characters ready for Steel Reign; one who sided with the paladin and did all the best stuff for WV. The other one did the opposite, went full facist and following orders. I'm not expecting an Alpha Protocol level of choices mattering, but it'll be fun to see what'll happen next.

A lot of the choices made in Dawn carries over, but it's pretty obvious that some of them just leads to a single npc line changing. Although, a couple of them feels like they helped/hindered in some situations. I'm going to do the questline again today with my rear end in a top hat character to see if anything changes. Besides the usual skill and reputation checks, there's also a couple of other checks, mostly event-based.
Rewards spoilers: A very strong power fist with a unique skin (furious, +40% power attack damage, +1 str) (which is currently bugged and breaks on fast travel), a bunch of cosmetic outfits, a black version of the bungalow for your camp, a set hellcat power armour

At least the Burrows is huge, with plenty of room to spawn enough enemies to progress. But I feel bad for anyone using a bloodied build during that exact daily op, because it's almost made specifically to kill them over and over.

Decryption with camoflaged super mutants in the Burning Mine is the worst one I have seen yet. Tried it three times with 4 man teams and couldn't get below 10 minutes. There's just too many ways to gently caress up your spawns in that location.

Brute forcing a chameleon mutation at the poineer scout camp is a great way to get that nice top 10 bonus. Hack both terminals, pick "aid package" for the serums, stimpacks and radaways. Use the serums if their side effects aren't too bad (Grounded is a no go most of the time) and then sit next to the 25-50 rads/sec barrels nearby, while sucking up the radaway from the aid package to force a third mutation. The limited number of mutations in NW should give you either chameleon or speed demon almost every game.

Stash box limit of 400, the depth of field making the game impossible to look at for more than 15 minutes, all the straight up non-functional or broken perk cards, every single weapon causing hp rubberbanding, the enemy levelling/respawning mechanics, survival mechanic penalties, vats auto targeting other players, no server wide messages for public events... The list goes on.
