Speaking of Sentai, looks like their Land of the Lustrous set is available for pre-order

Sure. Why not? I'm game.

I'm... intrigued.

That looks nice, I'm tentatively excited for more Eureka Seven again and also reminded that the first new movie thing is on amazon and I should watch it.

Huh, cr doesn't have Index for NA? I wonder if i care enough to look around for it. (or care enough to watch even if they did have it)

If i was even remotely current on the various things i want to watch I'm reasonably sure i would catch it, but now :effort:

An Accelerator anime as well.

In other news there's an Accelerator spin-off of Index.

I haven't seen the subsequent episodes, but the first episode was a snoozefest of absolutely nothing noteworthy happening until the last few minutes, and then main guy is running from assailants, he falls off the road into the woods, he falls out of the woods into a vent(???), and he falls through the vent into a cryogenics tube to be woken up a decade later. It wasn't great.

I've watched all episodes so far, but I can't really recommend it. The writing is weird, because a lot of the time it feels as if the characters do what they're doing because the plot demands it, without actually having an in-universe reason.
Or there are interesting setpieces (driving through the creepy abandoned subway tunnel, Derrida and that other guy sneaking into the evil company while wearing suits), but the writers couldn't think of a way to link up those parts, so...they didn't even bother and just hard cut from one to the other.

Well dang.

The most egregious was the thankfully defunct Amazon Strike! where you had to double dip (Prime + channel subscription) so if you just wanted the anime it was $15 a month or $160 for a year worth. That's assuming you were even in a territory where you could get Prime Video + channels.

Edit: And yes it is getting goddamn confusing figuring out where to watch what shows legally, if at all.

Let me just say how much fun I had trying to see what amazon was streaming this season without knowing exactly what title to look for.

The answer may surprise you!

Anyone ever watch that folding ideas YouTube talking man on Evangellion? The show kinda frustrated me that when I first watched it because as some kind of teen more than several years ago I was totally unprepared to actually engage with the metaphors and meaning behind the series and how it built up to the climax. I guess it just goes to show how important critical tools are to understanding media, and makes a statement about audience (like me) who often have trouble engaging with any of the subtext and get wrapped up in the text.

Anyways I thought the Folding Ideas video was great and gave a very clear summary of the show and why the ending made sense considering the subtext, and offered an explanation for how the movie made sense on several levels despite diverging slightly from the show. (I was one of those people who was put off by the original ending of the show when I first watched it. )

That's my Eva comment! Thanks for reading!
