You know it's a KH2 LP when the board commentary turns into crickets during the Disney worlds. At least in KH1 the business in the Disney worlds actually somewhat relates to the villains' overall schemes. Oh well, at least KH2 is still better than KH3 in that regard. Geemer posted:Yikes! That bad, huh? Schubalts posted:KH3's new Disney worlds are pretty much just the movies, but with Sora hanging around. What's more, at least what the baddies are up to in the various Disney worlds of KH2 are somewhat, sort of tangentially related to their ultimate goals? Meanwhile, in KH3 they like to pretend they are but in reality nothing they do actually matters in the least bit. Edit: I'll also say that KH3 has what I'd consider the most fun Disney worlds in the entire series, especially Olympus, Toy Story and the Pirates of the Caribbean of all things (at least after a somewhat long obnoxious opening segment); San Fransokyo is also pretty fun if a lot smaller. It's just that nothing that happens in them actually matters, at all, except for maybe reminding Sora that Replicas are a thing. TwoPair posted:Yeah I can't decide how I feel about the new pace. On one hand it feels nice to just blaze through the worlds way faster than KH1's, on the other hand the Disney worlds definitely feel like they have less consequence to the plot. Not to mention the fact that KH2's Disney Worlds lack both the verticality of KH1's worlds and the wide openness of KH3's, so they just tend to be long corridors of heartless battles mixed up with obnoxious minigames for no reason, a frustratingly non-significant number of them being escort missions. They do fly by at a nice clip at least. KH2 is also probably my favorite of the three main entries. I like these games, I swear.

FutureFriend posted:kingdom hearts 2 just came out, dunno how y'all got your hands on this kh3? must just be some fake leaks again. now if you'll excuse me, i have to hand the esteemed oscar over to the movie Crash (which is a bit of a hidden gem) Oh, Crash. I love back in 99 when Shakespeare in Love won and we were all like "This is it. This is the worst movie that will ever win the best picture oscar" and the academy has been saying "hold my beer" ever since.

So some rear end in a top hat claiming to be me from 13 years in the future decided not to read the fine print and derailed the thread. What a tool. Sorry about that Like anyone would believe it would take Squeenix 13 years to come out with the next game in the series BTW speaking of overly convoluted plots, is anyone else excited for the new season of Lost? I can't wait until they finally explain everything!

It's a huge pain in the rear end, is what it is.

My impression was always that it was Auron after Yunalesca kills him but before he goes Sin surfing to look after Tidus. But then Final Fantasy games aren't really canon in any way in Kingdom Hearts anyway (see also: Seifer and Leon). Hilariously enough, Seifer and Leon aren't even the most "how are these characters from the same Final Fantasy game?" instance in KH2.

get that OUT of my face posted:The general video games thread in Games had a rousing chat about Kingdom Hearts earlier today, and it got me wondering how much of the general batshittery of the plot had to do with Disney meddling and how much had to do with Nomura's insane anime nonsense. Did the former lead to the latter, or was Nomura always going to have a really weird imprint on all of this anyway? I always figured that Nomura designed plots the same way he designs character outfits.

It also becomes relatively easy to grind out most Drive Forms in the end game; and the new Final Mix form is also incredibly easy to grind up, especially immediately after you get it.

Pirates is probably my least favorite world that exists in KH2. But only because we don't talk about that other world

Yeah, it's sad to say that the fight against Genie Jafar is actually better in CoM than in KH1

I was always surprised at how much fun this world is to move around and battle in. That's the thing about the good KH games... no matter how buck wild the story gets, the battles always flow great

Xaldin is the "did you learn how to use Guard?" boss. He's super easy if you Guard his attacks. If you try to Dodge Roll him like everything else he'll end you though.
