when i have eye strain and/or headaches, i like to turn the lights off, lie down, and listen to something, in hopes of falling asleep. some of the things i listen to are podcasts. it's cool, to me, when the podcast thread talks about those things. ps: i'm employed by the police, and the intelligence services edit: can't wait to queue up the dulcet tones of the two slavs and nagle to hear the good poo poo that i love

i was going to post something which included all the tweets but i'm too inept at using twitter to do it. one of the girls chat hosts published this article: https://thenewinquiry.com/grooming-style/ then the red scare girls made fun of them, basically saying they should at least be profitting off their misery. so the girls chat gals made a podcast as a joke, as a way of asking for patreon donations. despite that they ended up having people like glenn greenwald on lol. there was some other background info they posted on reddit, but it's medical info about being trans and stuff so i dont feel comfortable digging it up and reposting it here. if this all sounds like irony poisoned nonsense for people whose brains have been destroyed by the internet, that's because it is. i do reccomend checking out that article if you know what alt lit is tho edit: the unironic parts of the podcast are that the hosts are both professional dominatrixes and devout catholics Finicums Wake has issued a correction as of 08:19 on Jul 1, 2019 |

they started the show as a joke. then they invited people who were controversial on twitter on to podcast, and were invariably nice to them, usually giving them enough proverbial rope to hang themselves. it ends up being weird and funny, imo

hot take: if you stop viewing economics/race/gender etc. as being interlocking autonmous systems, and instead see them as aspects of one integrated, self-reproducing yet contestable system, none of these questions like "is it class OR social issues?" even arise. you just start focusing on the concrete phenomena, and forming abstractions on ur own that detail how these concrete phenomena persist over time still workshopping this take

joe rogan's a useful idiot, in the sense that his ideology/interviewing style can be used as a means to further political ends that he himself wouldn't agree with, if he had any awareness of what was going on. the right has realized this and taken full advantage of it. i don't see any reason the left shouldn't treat him the same way. there's an argument that one shouldn't legitimize or mainstream him, but he already has one of (if not the most) popular podcasts in the world. imo the left should just see his show as just another contested space where politics takes place. from this perspective, not going on is analogous to needlessly ceding territory
