Probably a better question than half the questions that will be asked tonight https://twitter.com/MattGertz/status/1144034416659959808

Predictions for tonight: Candidates who will do the best: Harris, Buttigieg, Bernie. Candidate whose stock will go up the most: Harris (Bernie’s stock is already pretty high. I’d be surprised if it goes higher) Candidate whose stock will drop: Biden

VH4Ever posted:What makes you just assume Buttchug will do well, if I may ask? That's not a given. I think there's a better chance people come out of tonight going "wait, why is a literal real life Patrick Bateman running?" When I say “do well” I mean with viewers. I think Mayor Pete has qualities that resonate with voters that will come across in the debates. And the pundit class. Now I wish it wasn’t the case, but I expect him to try high marks.

B B posted:I wouldn't be surprised to see Biden dump on Buttigieg over the police brutality stuff in order to try to regain some credibility after the segregationist comments. I think Pete is going to have a night similar to Beto's. Pete is way more of a talented speaker and quicker on his feet than Beto. But hey hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

Democrazy posted:It would be idiotic to attack Biden and be seen as going “negative” or else doing something which might be seen as opportunistic. He’s well-liked among primary voters, so I think it would just sink you, even if it harms him. People might not know that's a contrast with Biden though unless you point it out. "i voted against the bankruptcy bill that made it harder for people to file for bankruptcy while Biden voted for it" is an important contrast people need to know.

Harris owned this debate. But what skills did she show that would indicate she would be a great president? This isn’t a knock on Harris, just showing how debates don’t do a great job fleshing out who would be the best president.
