Nah, they will just double down and blame all the fuckers (Derek, Us, Forbes, Casuals, Epic, The Jews, Cryware, that one gently caress that fell from his bike, etc) for it. If only more people were as smart and forward-looking as them then we would have the best game ever, but nooooooo, those salty jealous subhumans had to ruin it for us.

Besides, it was worth every penny.

They already had more engaging and cool gaming experiences in the PU than anything else they ever played so totally worth the 10k in jpgs.

Concept vs In-Game:

Incidentally I went to the SotA subreddit recently and it looked like there had been a ongoing conspiracy theory that all the fudsters on there had been paid shills of other RPG publishers and now that SoaT was essentially dead they had all stopped fudding since the devs had stopped paying them. A glimpse into the future when we have all lost interest and SC don't get updated anymore, then the citizens will declare victory because we have stopped our "ongoing hate campaign".

It's some social media 101 poo poo that's what it is.

I wonder what it must be like to be Lethality. To constantly live in a cycle of hype and then dissapointment.

I also wonder if publishers quake in fear at the thought of Lethality taking an interesting their game:

Publisher: Sorry guys, we have to stop development of the game.
Dev: What?! Why?! Its going so well!
Publisher: Lethality has tweeted that he is hyped for the game. Our stock just plummeted by 50%.

Reminder that Amazon invited Lethality to their games studio so he could give input on their weird colonial MMO where the natives are zombies instead of natives.

A single player game made by Chris Roberts on a game engine that was already developed with the full backing and support of the backers and Crytek. (the multiplayer was a stretch goal)

I know this is CIG, but why not respawn with your crime stat unchanged at some "pirate base" or some poo poo. What is the point of 15m waiting game if you can just get killed and respawn without crime stat.

Supposedly at some later date death will be more meaningful.

Chris made 30 million dollars selling spaceship jpgs, the american dream is still alive! We can probably get that number to 40 or 50, keep pledging citizens.

The UK accounting thing is perfectly normal. For example Starbux have never had a single day of profit in the UK.

I am utterly baffled by this. Assuming they can even make meaningful and interesting jobs out of "nurse" and "ship maintenance" which is already theory crafting so nebulous it beggars the most ludicrous of thought experiments how do you make a group of people give a gently caress about this?

Do you get a portion of a mission's credits? Is it entirely up to the captain? How do you stop playing? Do you all have to synchronize logging out? If all these jobs are critical to the working of a ship what happens if someone needs to go on vacation or just takes a week off of playing? Do they still get paid? Won't bots just immediately be a superior option? Even if they don't work as well as people they will literally always be available.

They once said that internal ship repair will be critical in battles between larger ships, but then 3 years later they did a javelin vs javelin fight during citizencon and it was over in like 3 minutes.

These stats are always wild every time I look at them, but Sanya is right, we don't have an accurate picture of how many backers there are. We tend to estimate that backers equal about roughly half the number of accounts, based on that Turbulent interview from 2015(?) but we have no way of knowing. It seems like the most likely answer for why the average pledge is increasing is that they have pretty much sold Star Citizen and Squadron to all the people who are going to buy it. Assuming that most new purchasers pick up a starter pack, if those new purchasers drop of the average pledge is going to jump pretty drastically because the only people left buying things are going to be the whales.

No you see when the game releases they will stop selling ships.

character tool is a default cryengine module. (lumberyards character editor is EmotionFX and animation editor)

They are using the Lumberyard license to essentially use the version of cry engine they where using without licensing it from crytec. The current lumberyard is based on a later fork of cryengine.
