She finally decided to do it after tearing both rotator cuffs and having to have a couple vertebrate fused due to an injury at work after someone put a 50+ pound box on a shelf and asked her to get it without telling her about the weight as a joke. She grabbed it, fell, and then went to the hospital. Please tell me that the rear end in a top hat who did that no longer works there.

I'm assuming you mean the Matthew Bruin feed and not Stonekettle, because Stonekettle is about as far from MAGAchud as it's possible to be and still occupy the same universe (although why he retweeted a MAGAchud as opposed to another source, I have no idea).

I know where all my fingers are at all times, but I don't know where all the parts of the glove are This is pretty much why I don’t bother with gloves on the rare occasion that I need to run a press brake (our primary operator who runs it on a daily basis does, tho). The press brake doesn’t give a gently caress whether I’m wearing gloves or not, my hand is gonna be pudding either way if things go to poo poo.

MikeCrotch posted:I still remember the one where a guy got sprayed with liquid phosgene and went to the hospital to be told "yeah you are gonna die in like 2 days pal." Yeah, I just went looking for this one. It is goddamn ridiculous how loving addictive the USCSB YouTube channel is. I moved on from that one to one about iron dust fires at the Hoeganaes Corp in Gallatin, TX. I’ll probably just be scrolling through these things the rest of the night. One of the most horrifying ones to me involved a propane tank change-out at a gas station/restaurant in (I think) WVa, where propane filled the store for like half an hour before the place blew up. Been a while since I saw that one so my memory of it is fuzzy, but the breakdown in the safety chain is some absolute what-the-gently caress. Edit: Yeah, I was right. The only problem with warning stickers like that is that fuckwits rarely, if ever, are aware of the fact that they are fuckwits, and will not believe it when called out on it by others.

Best industrial spill EVER: Millions of dollars worth of red wine leaks out of a tank at California winery quote:O'Gorman said once they noticed the leak inside a building on the property, they pumped the wine into another tank. However, much of it spilled into drains and vineyard ponds, which were foamy with red wine Thursday.

I wish to know more about this, but googling "La Fogata Express" turns up a zillion hits that don't seem to match wherever this happened. Googling phrases like "semi crash" or "tractor trailer overturns" are similarly unhelpful. Do you have any more info on it?

I've worked in print for more years than I care to think about and photo labs before that, back before digital photography killed film. Given all the chemicals I've been exposed to in my working life I figure I'm bound to end up with some form of cancer or another eventually. Also, print is one of the industries that has a higher-than-average rate of people who develop Parkinson's compared to the general population, so yeah.

My favorite boss ever was the owner of the company I worked for at the time. He was an insane Cajun from the gulf coast of Mississippi, prone to the occasional raging outburst but otherwise charismatic as all hell. Friday afternoons after hours he’d buy beer and let the employees bring it in (like, people made beer runs on their lunch breaks) and we’d all just chill for an hour or so drinking and shooting the poo poo. It was great for fostering employee morale and bonding. I really miss that place sometimes.

Ror posted:countertop disaster video Sorry to bring this back from pages ago, but I'm only just catching up to this thread. I was under the impression that concrete (cement?) countertops are typically poured in place using forms. Assuming that's what this is, why the hell would they pour it off-site? That seems like it's just inviting the exact outcome we're seeing here. If it's actually stone (I honestly can't tell; the top side looks like stone but the underside looks more like cement to me), then forget I even asked -- just enjoy my countertop ignorance and move on to the next OSHA that graces the thread with its presence.
