If the Trump administration thinks that the lack of testing (possible CDC fuckup, possible CDC not wanting to make Donnie mad) is going to make the coronavirus go away, they're basically causing more cases for when the testing does catch up.

Major problem with treating covid-19 patients is when they are on a ventilator of any sort the fluid from the lungs gets aerosolized and spread all over because the systems are not fully contained. The only way to stop that is with fully closed systems and fully closed biosuits which no one wants to pay for.

Technical divers are crazy. The craziest technical divers are Frenchmen. It's on the same level as wingsuit base jumping

This was also the same skipper that would smoke cigars any drat place or time he pleased.

Denied test again

Once again she is told that because she had not travelled to a high risk country or been in known contact with someone with coronavirus, she cannot have a test.

Having once been a doctor in the US Army Reserve, Dr Bahorik contacts her Veterans Affairs hospital. They later tell her that they do not have Covid-19 testing kits.

By this stage, Dr Bahorik's chest pain and coughing has worsened.

17 March - sent to hospital emergency room

Claudia Bahorik calls back her family doctor.

She is told to go to the emergency room at nearby St Joseph's Hospital, where the clinician in charge has given assurances she can get a coronavirus test.

At the hospital, she has to do another flu test and RSV test, this time, however, the new chest X-ray shows she has now developed pneumonia in her left lung.

Finally gets coronavirus test

Dr Bahorik gets a test, though getting the nasal sample makes her nose bleed, covering the swab with blood.

She is sent home with antibiotics and told to wait 3-5 days for result of the test.

23 March - test results delayed

Dr Bahorik calls the hospital to be told that the wait for test results is now 10 days because the samples were sent off to laboratories that are currently overwhelmed.

She has not responded to the antibiotics, and remains ill.

This is a medical doctor who is 69 and has had pneumonia previously so is pretty drat high risk.

edit : oh and she possibly infected an entire court room and 150+ jurors at jury duty.

The Chinese nurses in the bay area are are organizing private donation efforts for masks & gowns from other hospital staff in China, because the hospitals here do not have masks and gowns. We do not even have close to the amount of patients that are in New York and things are already desperate.

My wife has been having to supply her own masks just to work in the hospital.

My wife made a great observation. All of the other countries that are hard hit, you see the medical staff wearing proper gear or at least as close to it as possible. Here the hospitals are going by CDC directives and NOT allowing protective gear because 'there is no proof it can be transmitted that way'.

Blows my loving mind.

My wife had to bring her own god damned PPE to work in the ICU. Her manager tried to give her poo poo about it and she told her to gently caress right off.
