apatheticman posted:Im serious when I ask this. One thing I think we have going for us is the first-dose strategy. In the US cases are dropping a lot right now, things are opening up, the sense of urgency is passing. They gave out a lot of shots over the past few months, but many went to second doses. Here in Canada, the vaccine availability ramped up during the third wave. The sense of urgency was high, and we locked in a lot of first doses. Cases are dropping and the urgency will probably start fading, but most people will probably get their second shot when their appointment comes up.

I wouldn't say I care about the CFL, but I've gone to a few games and they're fun. Rules are better than the NFL imo Anyway in real news: https://twitter.com/paulvieira/status/1399783886771699717

I've heard from a few doctors that people are now vaccine shopping for Pfizer over Moderna (this is in ON). They had unfilled appointments so I got a Moderna yesterday even though my first shot was Pfizer. So if you're trying to secure a dose see if you can find any doctor's offices offering Moderna

MA-Horus posted:Just as The Coward Douglas Ford can't stop being a gormless nitwit coward, The Bastard Jason Kenney can't stop waking up every day and choosing to kill his constituents. At the very least it seems Ford can be spurred to action by yelling at him loudly enough. The only reason ON is in the relatively good place it's in right now is that Ford folds when put under enough pressure. Of course it means we're always being reactive rather than proactive but I'm quite glad I don't live in AB.

Chicken posted:I have no evidence for this but I believe there is a (likely small) portion of anti-vaxxers who are just scared of needles and don't want to admit it, likely due to toxic masculinity. A vaccine that's one shots instead of two might have some impact on vaccine rates. I've seen talk of potentially making a nasal spray based vaccine. It's probably too late for that to make a difference now, but in the future (even just for flu vaccines) it would be interesting to see how much that affects hesitancy.

Noblesse Obliged posted:My bigger issue is that there’s no metric for inflation that is meaningful to regular people. It’s decided upon by those who use it to benefit capital over workers. This is the list of things included in the CPI: https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/pub/62f0014m/62f0014m2021015-eng.htm and the weightings are here: https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/t1/tbl1/en/tv.action?pid=1810000701 Certainly there are objections to be made with how inflation is calculated, but claiming it excludes "food, shelter, energy" is just plain wrong.

Yeah there are tons of LCBOs all over the province, and it's a government owned asset that has the logistical know-how to distribute product. Also, everyone knows where they are. The announcements today were good, too bad they didn't do all this two weeks ago. But I guess that's just how Doug rolls.

The coward Doug Ford will be holding a presser at 3:30 "The Ontario government is considering reducing gathering sizes, cutting capacity limits and changing the definition of fully vaccinated to include three doses as COVID-19 cases soar in the province." Last one is interesting.
