The EMT who survived being shot by Rittenhouse (who was treating one the people Rittenhouse had already shot and killed) claimed that he was armed and raised a gun at Rittenhouse as he stalked towards him and that was what caused Rittenhouse to shoot him too, implying that Rittenhouse actually shot him in self-defense... after he'd already shot and killed two people prior to that. And because juries are dumb, this prosecutor sucks, and the judge is trying to slant everything in his favor the murderous little white supremacist poo poo is gonna walk scot free.

Rittenhouse met up with a contingent of Proud Boys at a bar in Mount Pleasant, WI wearing a t-shirt that said "Free As gently caress" on it after he was released on bail and took celebratory photos with them flashing the "I'm a white supremacist, don't tell anyone" hand sign that the Nazis have co-opted out of the "ok" gesture, and did all of this apparently of his own accord and with no coercion or manipulation. The whole thing has a strong air of "I'm proud of what I did and I'm happy I'm gonna get away with it."

The judge barred the jury from seeing it because the image instantly destroys Rittenhouse's credibility as a defendant.

What happened with this anyway, like why Harris specifically over people who's competence and likability were so much higher? Did Harris have enough Hilary supporters that would've stayed home or was it something else?

The prevailing wisdom at the time was that he was trying to mirror how he was picked by Obama to be his VP, in that he caused a stir in the early primary process by just savagely insulting Obama (with a pretty racist grandpa brainfart) and they eventually mended fences after Biden dropped out, became friends, and forged a pretty effective#1-#2 team for the subsequent 8 years of Obama's presidency. We got the first couple of steps of that with the Biden-Harris relationship, ie: the savage chaos dunk from Harris that briefly wobbled Biden's campaign and caught his attention and the mending fences afterwards enough to get picked for the Veep post, but that whole "became legitimate friends and reliable working partners" thing never materialized like it did between Obama and Biden, so Harris got pushed to the periphery to tailspin in her own embarrassments privately, whereas when Biden cocked up under Obama, Barry was always there behind him to help him laugh it all off and help foster that phantasmic Diamond Joe Biden image that a lot of people still had in their brains when they went into the voting booth in 2020.

It was done purely to consolidate Trump's power in the White House (or at least try to, because he didn't have a solid handle on ANYTHING, the lazy incompetent idiot he was), it merely had the knock-on effect of erasing all of the power expansions that Dick Cheney had clawed out during the Bush years which Biden also enjoyed during his time as VP too.

People describe her as the establishment pick because they don't like her and they honestly believe the Democratic Party's upper echelons would never do anything that they didn't want to, so anything that they do must be the product of an elaborate conspiracy to produce the result they wanted.

You can tell how Kamala was the establishment pick because of that time she did everything short of calling the establishment pick for President Joe Biden a racist on national TV as a desperation move to get some attention and money in her coffers in a crowded presidential field that had already written her off. All part of the long game you see.

Democrats picked her for the ticket because she was black and a woman and they thought that's what they needed, and of the choices available they thought she'd have the most upsides and the fewest downsides, not because they wanted her.

Like, seriously, I get all the people clamoring for her to have been picked, but is Stacey Abrams was Biden's VP pick, Georgia's two senate seats probably stay red. Not that it probably really matters anyway because thanks to Joe Manchin and Kysten Sinema, Mitch McConnell still runs the Senate anyway, but at least her still being on the ground in Georgia and not squirreled away at the Naval Observatory gives the Dems a chance to try and maybe hold onto at least one seat--she's got the time to try and cement Jon Ossoff in place by 2026, but Raphael Warnock is hosed.
