Sometimes security theatre is convenient if only to show that there was criminal intent to take the gun without permission.

This isn’t the place to debate what kind of mask is or is not effective.

If you have questions about masks, please see the CDC, for example

Last time gas prices were this nutty people couldn't sell their lovely giant trucks fast enough. I suppose a decade+ of CULTURE WAR has made the idiot class even more intransigent than they used to be and I have no clue if that'll happen again

There’s a car shortage so while I’m sure a lot of people are regretting their F-250 King Ranch Edition, there aren’t a lot of affordable options to replace them.

I mean I do get it, it's just the idea of Nuclear War getting trip off by that is kind of silly (which isn't unique in nuclear war scenarios admittedly). Perhaps allow it to degrade the Defcon status, but not hit 1.

The idea is that if you’re already at DEFCON 2 or 3, you don’t do poo poo that could possibly piss off the other guy.

A bear tried to climb a fence in Minnesota at the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis, and because the “intruder” alarm was miswired as the “Soviet hardware incoming, get airborne” alarm, pilots scrambled to do just that.

There was also that time in 1960 when U.S. early warning RADAR mistook the Moon for Soviet ICBMs.

Didn’t a lightning strike take out a transformer somewhere in flyover country once, loving up SAC phones lines and leaving them to think the Soviets were for sure coming since they were degrading their C3?
