Any AF guys wanna weigh in on the loudness of a B52 or B1 at 15-20k feet?

Apparently stingers have about 11.5-12k foot ceiling with five mile range. I've heard that at least during the GWOT B-1's have been used as a sonic shock and awe in some instances, but I am completely ignorant as to any actual capacities.

We could just mount GAU-8s to Ladas. Minimal training and 50 percent of them might even end up airborne!

Yeah, I'm not thinking NATO is about to wage an aggressive war against Russia on Russian territory any time soon.

The only possible way NATO would willingly enter Russian soil is if there were absolute guarantees that the nuke stockpile could be secured before launch. The only situation I could imagine is a 100% percent military coup/civil war with a clear request for NATO or western assistance. Even then, it would likely take weeks of fighting to convince anyone that intervention would be anything less than suicidal.

In other words. Russia likely will never have to fight another defensive war it doesn't otherwise manufacture against itself.

Say, question. Say you're this infantryman. You're wandering around alone in the wild without your gun for whatever reason when you spot a drone, and you're certain that it spotted you and is following you. What should you be doing instead of running back to your base and letting the enemy know where your guys are? Sit around and wait until it gets bored/runs out of batteries, gambling that it won't want to waste too much time calling down fire on one dude? Try to hide?

Well, if you're wandering around alone and weaponless in a warzone, you've kind of already failed. But then running straight to camp over open terrain and not even trying to, I dunno, find some sort of cover or a tree to hide behind, is probably low on the list of things to do.

Then again, it's not like that camp was particularly well camouflaged, and it was straight down the road. The drone operator was probably already aware of them and wanted to torment some poor dumb conscript.

On this recent trip my coworker's train from FRA to Munich was delayed by 3 hours, which apparently entitled her to monetary compensation. DB implemented this by handing her a 3 page form in German only for her to fill out and provide documentation to claim her refund, without any real instructions except maybe she could get cash by handing it in to a ticket booth?

The combination of strong consumer protections crippled by impenetrable bureaucracy felt so quintessentially German. Also trains. Those people love trains.

In Japan, my train was late by about 30 minutes so I missed my connection. I stopped by the ticket booth to see about getting it switched over for a later train, only to have them refund the first leg of the trip and update my ticket. No questions, no fuss.

Amazing how much things differ across the world for something so simple as accomodating customers.

Probably the difficulty of moving a turret. Or just setting up the mechanisms for machine guns and the ammo you load with it is all the rounds it has. Could work for some stalling, but probably not nearly as effective as actually manned machine gun positions you have a defense in depth plan with.

Now having a gun position or two with a remote setup combined with manned machine gun nests could cause some major delays of an assault.

Not to mention electronic counter measures jamming your wifi and not having someone there to clear a jam or pick up the gun if it falls over.

It reminds me a lot of the drip guns used at Gallipoli, great as a distraction and sowing confusion, but limited efficacy.
