This is the inevitable consequence of that. The Labour Party you have over and over again stated you want is Oops All Luke Akehursts. I hate to bring up the Labourism argument again, we don’t have to go over the whole thing, but you’re laughing that a lot of people did what you wanted them to do. Please stop doing that. In general, the NEC results are pretty good considering everything. Really sad about Mish losing though, he’s a great guy.

forkboy84 posted:No friend, the Labour Party that I want is a party that can only be described in the past tense for it has withered and died. I can only conclude you haven't actually engaged with a single anti-Labour argument if you think the desired result is right wing Labour. The desired result is proving that a centre-left party cannot survive when it holds nothing but contempt for ordinary working people. Obviously, if all the lefties leave the Labour Party only the right will remain. This is the outcome that both you, and the entire Labour right, are angling for. I disagree with this tactic, but I don’t think it’s an illegitimate one. And I don’t think the current situation is your fault, though you have done your part in spreading the meme (in the classical sense) that people should leave the party. But if current trends continue, of course Luke Akehurst is going to win elections, and probably end up an MP, because who’s going to stop him? And you have ceaselessly advocated for current trends to continue and even accelerate. So you shouldn’t laugh and crow about events like this election. Your reaction should be that it’s a sad but inevitable symptom of what you think needs to happen with the Labour Party, or even that it’s good.

There was a special episode of HIGNFY which was saying “goodbye” to Boris Johnson and apparently laid into him a lot. I couldn’t see it because I’m on holiday (and I wouldn’t watch that poo poo anyway) - I already know the answer to this but does anyone know if there was even an iota of self-awareness from them in their huge part of his rise in politics?

I bought the orange power bank a while ago, and while it's an excellent portable battery, I should warn you that I left it sitting in front of a big window for the better part of a year and it did not increase in charge by even a single notch.

Re: rectal enemas, yup, they work well. 30% boost in efficacy by going up the rectal passage (as either enema or suppository), and directly bypasses the liver, delivering the cannabinoids deep into the body. It's a very different high/effect. Both methods work well, and yes, I speak from personal experience. Probably shouldn't do that one in the shopping centre though.

It's a bit weird that Americans have trouble understanding this when their system works the same? When Nixon resigned, Gerald Ford became president. But Ford was an appointee after the elected VP Spiro Agnew resigned. So no one had voted for the president. They had an election two-and-a-bit years later, as previously scheduled.

thrawn527 posted:And that's the one time that's ever happened. The one time America has ever had a President who wasn't elected to either President or Vice President. It was kind of a big deal. And he lost that next election (though that's probably because he pardoned Nixon). Sure, but America has even more hard-coded elections than we do. I don't know if there's any procedure for having an election outside of the traditional 4-year cycle at all. It's quite well known that if the Pres and the VP are removed somehow, the Speaker of the House is next in succession, even if they're from a different party. The fact that it's even possible for a new election to be called here is more responsive to current events than the US system.

Do people really think there’s going to be an election? Why would this happen? The Tories are not going to voluntarily call an election they are very likely to lose badly. There aren’t going to be riots on the streets about this.
