John Charity Spring posted:there's a convention banning their use but a lot of big countries aren't signatories to it, such as Russia and China and the USA. but it's a convenient thing to trot out if a Bad Country is using them, and gets quietly forgotten if it's a Good Country yeah that makes sense but why would you want to use weapons with such a high propensity for collateral damage inside your borders?

Frosted Flake posted:We've come a long way from “The history of Russia is a history of violence,” and “It is all borrowed sounds. That’s what Russian culture was, a lot of borrowing,” because this year only Victoria (the fortress of Canadian liberal sentimentality) and Edmonton () decided to stage the new Ukrainian Nationalist Nutcracker as opposed to Tchaikovsky's. I'm going to need to find at least an audio recording of this, because holy poo poo lmao this is bad Frosted Flake posted:Also, if you want some pure ideology, reflecting the origins of Canadian official multiculturalism in the myth of Ukrainians as a founding people, that ballet company received a giant federal cultural grant to produce Ancestors & Elders, a ballet about "the first Ukrainian settlers in Alberta and their relationship with the Indigenous people of Treaty 6 territory they encountered." indistinguishable in form, content, and quality from Shen Yun

Sanlav posted:I realized sometime in engineering school that yeh, I prolly could of got head start on a lot of things if I had any sense of direction when I was young. I just grabbed anything in sight. Funk and Wagnalls? read it cover to cover before it was encarta, and then prolly again as that. I'm sorry that happened. you should rehab your back so you can play guitar comfortably again. it's not gone for good. but a lot of us have grown up with bad dogma and horseshit ideology that told us human bodies are like machines that break for good, rather than dynamic, adaptible, resilliant organic systems

Leg is good, shoulder is rehabbed mostly, now the core needs to turn to stone and never anything but. hell yeah. that's great to hear. I've 9 ortho surgeries myself and am rehabbing 2 injuries currently, but I'll be damned if it keeps me down I don't know if you post in ylls or smug fitness fascists but feel free to drop in if you need support or have questions

Yikes. I guess I'll see if this affects my Ukrainian coworker. Not sure when his passport expires, but I don't think the office of migration here needs a passport to renew a residence permit / work authorization.
