Yeah I found byleth really charming in their weirdness when I first played it. I eventually got a bit sick of them due to protagonist overload which always happens to me, but then three hopes reminded me why I liked them in the first place.

I really loved three houses, enough for five playthroughs, but I went back for a sixth recently and discovered I could not handle it again. But that's a pretty high bar tbh. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Certainly it has its flaws but it's up there with my favourite FEs (FE4, Echoes).

Honestly I think if everything about the advertising is screaming at you that it will be something that you'll hate, just don't play it. Why put yourself through that, and why put it on everyone else around you? I just genuinely don't get it. If I'm hating some form of media, I just stop playing/watching/reading/whatever.

I simply use my faves regardless edit: also I got an S rank Olwen ring really early on and that makes thunder tomes brave which has been insanely good. 3 range brave tome... Thank you Olwen for existing.

Fists feel pretty wasted on Alear tbh. They operate off the average of mag and str and Alear's is so low that she's always going to be doing half the damage she would with a sword.

I got my flamingo after three skirmishes and one save-scum of the post-skirmish explore, so no matter what happens in the rest of the game I'm happy. That's all I needed.

The only scene that really bugged me was (chapter 24) Zephia's million-year long death scene. Like, I get it game, she genuinely loved the hounds like a family, you don't have to have her monologue on about her backstory for ten minutes and then have her appear in the past to say the same things about wanting a child of her own. That really felt like, "we've written this background for these characters but haven't gotten to use it so we'll stuff it all into her last scene." Otherwise I loved everything about the time travel section though, getting to see red Alear was fantastic. Laura Stahl did a great job with the voice work there.

I love the different reads characters have on their sync lines. Hortensia with Micaiah says "why do you attempt to throw away your life?" like a bitchy teenager and it's so funny
