I'm just going to remind myself that I played doom at 320x200 and Quake at 640x480, both at 30fps, both still were great games, all this poo poo now about having to run it at 4k 120fps locked is gamer brain hogwash.

Lol is there actually a quest that disables your menus when it initiates the "follow this thing" phase? The Phantom Oxcart

Also just had a quest prematurely end when I went back and talked to an NPC, he asked how it was going and I told him. I guess it figured that I was done with it and it ended with a sort of..."thanks, I guess?" The thing was, there was still obviously more to do...but I can't do it. Be careful with this game.

Turns out my complaint that a quest froze me out of my menu was a bug. It was always fired at the same time from the same event in the quest...even after multiple reloads...not sure why but I couldn't open my menus, could interact with everything normally but I was invincible to all damage. Anyway I had to hard close DD2 but when I came back everything worked ok, thank goodness.

Also I have to say, it feels great when you finish a quest and one of your Hired Pawns says "Well done! When my master did that quest, they were not able to <do whatever thing you did>".

It's not exactly lucky - you can explicitly hire a pawn that has quest knowledge if you want. It's something you can filter for in the pawn search. Of course, then you have to blindly follow them to her which can be quite a long way away. Otherwise, I really like that the quest makes you actually find a person who has gone into hiding as opposed to just giving you obvious breadcrumbs. I found her essentially by accident because I still had a quest there.

This is exactly what happened to me, even after you finish that quest they imply you should go back there at some point to check in.

Y'know, just spitballing here, but I think the reason that certain people are having such trouble with this game is because they either are too young or don't remember a time where games didn't constantly erect guardrails and spoon-feed the player. There has DEFINITELY been some stuff here that's been obtuse or silly but largely if you follow the clues the game lays out you'll do ok.

The bizarre choice to either make the mage an auto-include or....I don't know how you would work around it. Spend a couple of hours on supply runs to stock up on five dozen fruit robents?

If there's a Dragon's Dogma 3 I hope they make a Paladin/Cleric style class or SOME way to get health back that doesn't involve one magick Vocation.

There are no horses in the Dragon's Dogma world, which is why I hope Dragon's Dogma 3 has a nighttime event of an encounter with the Headless Oxenman who sloooooowly trundles toward you while laughing insanely.

I'm giving out 3400 gold Ogre bounty and I haven't had one taker. Not one.

I was thinking about switching Conan from Warrior to Fighter just to get those sweet passives, even though it's not really on theme. I guess I'll do it if he'll still get hired.

I appreciate that spoiler but I grabbed 'em already. Final Roar. In fact I figured all the scantily clad stuff was there in DesertLand, so I snuck over the border at level 18 and blew all my money making Conan look fab. Was a hell of an experience because, as you know, there ain't no Portcrystal there and there's no maps or inns, so I just followed the big road and hoped for the best! On to the next area before I fall too behind the curve.

I somehow got double escort quests for this little short old dude with a terrible haircut and droopy "moustache rides" style handlebar.

I escorted him twice and at the end of the second mission he was all red-faced and "thank you yer Majesty" and I realized that I was getting signals from the game that I had just maxed out affinity with this old dude. That's fine, I was also working an angle with Captain Brandt, hopefully this will straighten itself out.

Later I'm at the Inn and see the little dude, I hail him and he starts ranting about what garbage the beastren are! I had accidently friend-zoned a racist old MVGA guy. Fuckin' Dragon's Dogma, man!

Uh....no he doesn't. Or at least, he shouldn't. He actually wants to go where you want to go. I don't know how you would get a Vernworth destination unless they literally made a fork in the quest where if you discover him before a certain something, he takes you back to the capital. Which, knowing this weird rear end game, wouldn't surprise me.

It really is fuckin' wild how, as I'm closing in on Level 40, so many of the players are putting up pawns around that level with no specialization, bad vocation skills, no Pawn quest, and dogshit starting equipment. Whoever these people are, I am not going to hire their tiny hot gal in booty shorts, she's garbage.

Also, is the MainPawn thing a joke that I'm missing or...?

Edit: just discovered the MainPawn thing is what happens when you don't set a pawn name and only set a moniker.

The game isn't realistic and there's not a single open world game that exists that has got even 10% of the way to really representing an actual functioning real world.

What you're basically doing is the equivalent of "so wait, in GTA 4 New York just lets people mass murder their way through the streets and then hits them with a fine? How would this even function?" no poo poo! If you're asking these questions then you've lot the plot, the feeling isn't there, just quit dude. The game isn't for you.
